sinclair's Review
I was at Southern Comfort on a recent Friday evening. I hit up the BP gas station less than a block away for some Sincweiser tallboys before parking in the club’s gravel parking lot. The club is BYOB, but you can only bring canned beer, no bottled beer. Hard liquor is also not allowed. The cover charge was $10. There are two stages. The main stage is a large runway with a stationary pole. The secondary stage was fenced by a railing and smaller; it was not in use. Some of the tables have large buckets in the middle of them. These bins are filled up with ice and act as coolers for patrons’ beers.
At 20:00, there were three dancers working. More dancers started showing up just before 21:00. By the time I left, there were fifteen dancers working. There was a good variety of dancers for everyone’s tastes. Many were in the 5-6 range, but there were a couple in the 7-8 range. All dancers obliged to get completely nude on stage. Stage tips were always met with a shake of the boobs to the face. Lap dances take place beyond the main stage in little booths. Lap dances are $20 per song or three for $50. The lap dances are topless only. The only dancer’s name that I remembered was Kaden who danced to Marilyn Manson. She was about 30 and had shown signs of popping out a kid. She was covered in too many tattoos and had eraser tip nips. I declined dances. No customers were getting lap dances; most seemed to be content drinking their beers and enjoying the nude stage show. Dancers seemed to make about $20 to $40 in tips each time they went on stage.
I will return to Southern Comfort next time I am in the area. What I loved about this place was that it was very basic without all the extra options that too many strip clubs use nowadays to rape your wallet. Southern Comfort is purely about drinking beer and watching strippers. There is no nickel-and-diming, no pressure on the customer, no annoying DJ, and no waitresses bothering you every couple minutes. I believe the bar that shares the parking lot with the strip club, No Place Special, is owned by the same people. If you get hungry, go over there for bar food. They might also be an option to buy beer after the nearby gas station shuts down for the night. I will return when I am back near the Quad Cities.
