With Only One Dancer, How Much Fun Can It Be?

The Pony in Davenport is one of several clubs in the midwest with the same name and format. I guess they all have the same owners or are a franchise. None of the ones I have been to have been all that good though. The one in Davenport wasn’t either.

Parking was easy, but when I got inside, I found out why, there was only one dancer and three customers. Cover is nominally $20, but there is a “Free Pass” on their website that is good for $10 off that admission. That gets e-mailed to you. Reading the fine print on the pass, it says it may not be good for free admission, but rather money off on regular admission. Having said all that, cover on Mondays is supposed to be free. I am not sure of the fine print, if any, on that.

The club is large with a long rectangular stage in the middle. It is modestly lit, not too bright, but not dark. There are chairs at the stage, with tables and chairs around that. There is a digital display that shows which dancers (or dancer in this case) are there that night and the order in which they dance, including who is dancing at that moment. That would be useful information if there were more than one dancer. The display also includes a countdown timer for the music being played, which is strictly limited to three minutes.
