About What I Expected
I thought the Portland clubs were ok overall, even the divier bars. Liked that the customers and club staff were laid back, even the ones run by bikers. The biker run clubs were a little iffier up around Seattle when I was there some years back (when Seattle clubs were still near their high point). I only saw 7 clubs, so I'm sure there are rough patches in town I just stuck to the ones that were on the loop I drew that started with Casa Diablo and ended with Cabaret II.
Rose City Strip was the cut line for my Tour of Portland, because based on the reviews it seemed to be the best indicator of the overall scene. I received better info from a fellow TUSCLer that would have changed my playlist, but naturally I received it after I'd already run through town. So basically if this club wasn't up to snuff I was going to start working back toward Casa Diablo with a stop at Club Rouge for dances, and if it was decent I'd keep going down the list.
When I got here I had parked in the wrong lot because the GPS freaked out, then tried to walk in the wrong door because the one under the sign facing the road is locked. Besides that the visit was fine. When I walked in the door from the parking lot, there was a guy in biker attired manning the entrance. He glanced up and waved me in. No id check, no cover, no problem. Their main stage is right off the door, and you are at the tip rail on one side of the stage after taking one step into the club.
