Baccara is good, but not the best in Bangkok

Four inches, four minutes, four thousand baht. So goes the saying about the typical customer at Baccara, which has the reputation of being a "Jap Trap" catering to mostly Japanese and Asian mongers. I could see why as about 95% of the customers looked like they were Japanese dudes when I visited.

Baccara is located on Soi Cowboy, which is a short alley lined on both sides with dozens of GoGo bars which in Thailand are usually bikini bars where most of the gogo "dancers" do take out (have sex with you OTC). There are hundreds if not thousands of ladies working on this street each night. Most are average looking or ugly, but there's some absolute stunners too. Each bar usually has its best looking ladies out front to entice you come in. So you literally run thru a gauntlet of ho's grabbing ahold of you and trying to rope you into their club.

Unlike at most of the other clubs where you can just walk right in, at Baccara if you're not Japenese looking you have to buy a drink at the bar outside before the doorman will let you pass through the curtain into the club. The cheapest option is a Singha or Chang beer that will set you back 180 baht (about US $ 5.25). So once inside it's self service as you have to find your own seat (at most other clubs a waitress seats you). The club has a large stage in the middle and is surrounded by 2 rows deep of bench like seating along the perimeter walls. The club was fairly full when I visited on a Wednesday night. The ladies on stage were all doing the " Bangkok shuffle" and all looked bored and rather disinterested. The overall energy level was very low IMHO. On the upside there was an extremely low hustle factor. I didn't see many dudes getting hassled to buy ladies "lady drinks" (an over-priced watered down soda that the ladies get a kickback from the club) and not one lady even approached me during the hour that I was there (maybe because I'm not Asian |)

Anyway the ladies were overall good looking but not great looking. All Oriental of course. Mainly in their mid 20's to early 30's. They were all dolled up and all had a plasticky look to them, like either fake boobs, silicone nose jobs, heavy makeup or dyed blond hair. Like an elegant Asian Barbie. I on the other hand I go for the slutty GND look!

So as others have noted, there's a glass ceiling above the main stage where if you look up you can see ladies dancing on the glass floor in naughty school girl uniforms without panties, giving those below a peak at their slits. I would have been a lot more impressed if the ladies upstairs had been better looking (they were several notches below those on the first floor). It also didn't make sense to have ladies mostly in their late 20's and 30's dressed as teenage school girls when one only had to go around the corner to Crazy House or over to some of the clubs in Nana Plaza to get the real McCoy. Anyway if you want to go upstairs there's a very narrow curved staircase leading up there over in the right back corner of the club (to the right of the bar and restrooms). Upstairs was slightly less crowded and smoking was allowed. There's no real stage, just a glass dance floor surrounded by bench-like seating two rows deep. I didn't do any take out, so I can't comment on the bar fine and the actual short and long term rates.
