An average night at Nana Plaza is still exciting

Nana Plaza is actually two dozen go go clubs, arranged on three stories around a courtyard that features a bar. If you’re in Bangkok and want to experience the naughty side of Thailand, this would be your first, maybe second stop (Soi Cowboy is the other one that is well known and geared towards tourists).

We went on a Sunday night. The place was fairly busy, but not such that we had a hard time finding seats as we did some club hopping. Spent some time in Rainbow and Butterflies. Both clubs were fairly standard: you buy drinks, sit at a table, watch the stage. All the dancers looked decent, but only a couple of them stood out as being really attractive. No one puts on a stage show- they move a little to the music while watching the crowd.

There is a hustle to buy girls drinks, but lapdances aren’t really done. You are meant to get to know the girl of your choice over a drink or two and then, if everything is proceeding smoothly, you pay the bar fine in order to bring her back to your hotel.
