Nicer venue than experience
The Penthouse Club is on Broadway, just a bit separated from a large cluster of other clubs all together. The doorman, rather than the typical bouncer checking ids, was more like a concierge at a hotel or theater or something. He greeted me, shook my hand, opened the door for me and gave me the layout. It was friendly, but a little unusual. The cover charge was $10. When I arrived (9:30 or so), the club was very quiet, with just a few patrons and only a handful of dancers. It picked up slightly but never got very busy, though it was mid-week and I didn't stay terribly late.
The main floor is a good-sized room with high ceilings and a fairly upscale decor. There is a large stage with a set of circle tables around it, then a slightly raised area with more tables and a bar. The main stage and seating area is open to the floor above, which made the place feel very open (and provided for a very tall pole on the main stage). Upstairs there's a row of tables along the overlook to the lower floor, and a small area with a bar and more tables. These felt more like dining tables, but there's also a separate small dance section here with a pole. The floor of that section is glass, so there's a (poor) view of the dancer from below if you're in the main stage section. It's more a gimmick than another way to watch a dancer, but was nicely original. The waitresses were beautiful. One had some dazzling cleavage that she kept showing off by leaning into the tables she served; she was more fun to watch than some of the dancers. My Coke and a later bottle of water were around $6 I think.
The dancers were all reasonably attractive. I don't remember any artificial breasts, though there were a variety of sizes. None of them could dance, though. The giant pole went almost unused, except for one dancer that climbed all the way up two stories to the top. That was impressive, but it was just a long climb and then slow slide down, so not much performance to it. She also danced a bit with a hula hoop, which I usually enjoy, but she wasn't very good. I give her points for trying, though. Most of the others just kind of danced around a bit. Tipping at the stage got some attention, but not a great deal of interaction. The stage dances left the ladies topless after a couple of songs.
