What a difference a day can...
What a difference a day can make. Went to Delilah's Saturday around 7, hoping that would be early enough to beat the crowd. I was wrong. Where to begin?
Walk in, the girl at the door is on the phone. I figure there's got to be a cover on Saturday, so I stand there. She talks on the phone. I finally have to walk towards the main room before she gives any indication that she cares I'm there. Go in to the main room, take one of the few free seats. About 60 customers in the main room (yeah, I got bored enough at one point to count). After ordering a drink, a second waitress comes by and asks if I want something or I'm alright, I say I'm alright. So she tries to take the napkin that the first waitress left for my drink. I didn't realize those were so valuable, that they can't be wasted on someone who isn't drinking.
I went hoping dancer quality would be high, like it used to be at prime hours. Dancer quality was maybe 7, with 10 being what it was two years ago. First dancer to ask me for a dance comes up behind me, so I have to bend my neck back to see her face, can't see much of her body and she's dressed like she just came in from the cold. Her greeting is "Hi, want a dance." My response should be, "why would I?", but I settle for no. Second dancer, 5 if the average was 10 two years ago, at least sits down next to me and pretends to carry on a conversation. But all she can say is, it's not in here. Now I'm still sweating 20 minutes after coming in from the outdoors, so yeah, I agree. But a hot, sweaty dancer who just wants to sit someplace cool isn't going to give a good dance, and anyway, that's all she says, while she looks at everyone in the room but me. I say no when she finally asks me. I do have money burning a hole in my pocket, but even I have limits.
