My first impression of Temptations was...

My first impression of Temptations was dark and narrow. When you entered a long bar stretched to the right. One walked past the bar towards the stage, passing the VIP area which was also long and narrow. The long and narrow stage had comfortable seats on both sides. Behind the seats on one side was the corridor to the restrooms, on the other a row of seats next to the wall.

Perhaps one shouldn’t judge a strip club by a Monday night, particularly when one is just a visitor to the city, passing through. After all, there were few other patrons, and women seemed unenthusiastic about their prospects for income that evening. I took a seat at the stage, and the stage dances could only be described as lame. Apparently, Kansas City Missouri rules result in little clothing being taken off during the stage dances and little to no contact from the stage to patrons. I was unable to get a sense whether lap dance would be worthwhile or not from the stage routines.

Further confusing the situation, was the lack of experience by the dancers at this particular club. At least half the dancers had been there for less than three weeks, including one for which she said it was her second night. One relatively new dancer, who said the other girls hated her, sat down next to me while I was sitting at the stage. She was told it was against the rules to sit with patrons at the stage; she had to move to a seat away from the stage to have a conversation with a patron. I could understand such rule if the club were busy, but that certainly wasn’t the case this evening I was there.

I sampled conversation and lap dances from three different dancers. The quality of the lap dances varied from “It was so bad I was fearful she would do damage” to “very good”. The lap dance area was not particularly private. The DJ had a view of all that was going on. And the waitresses, bouncers and bartenders occasionally looked in.

Temptations appears to have a lot of potential, and I will probably return the next time I pass through Kansas City. Hopefully my next visit will be on a night that the place is busier, and the strippers are more enthusiastic about their prospects. Its downtown location is quite convenient number of the hotels in the city.
