An old friend...

An old friend was in town so I finally had an excuse to check out the legendary Atlanta landmark that is the Clermont Lounge. Wife came along with some friends and we all had a great time. We went on a Thursday night and to my pleasant surprise there was a live band playing, such a nice change of pace from all the crap music blaring at most clubs. I love dive bars so was immediately enjoying the place. The bar area was a little crowded and the stools and floor a bit grundgy and sticky (no worse than the movie theater), but plenty of room to sit and hang out in the main room by the music stage. The club is in the basement of a very old hotel and the decor inside shows it's age. This place is very centrally located in East Atlanta and there was plenty of free parking in the lot behind the hotel. The cover charge was minimal and the drinks were very cheap - where can you get a beer for three dollars at any other strip club?

Now for the dancers... they are what makes this place one of a kind. Ladies of all ages and sizes were on shift dancing on the stage. Ethnically mixed and some as old as grandma, but there were a couple of decent looking girls. Of course there is Blondie who will crush a beer can with her tits for a fee, she came down and talked with us for awhile. You don't come here to see 100% super sexy girls, you come to see real people having fun on stage. It is almost like the dancers are a back drop to a bar scene and not the center of attention which makes for a very relaxed and fun place to bring your wife or girlfriend. Each dancer did come down and say thanks to everybody at the bar. There was a private area in the back for lap dances, but nobody in our group took part, we were having too much fun hanging out. We will definitely be coming back!

If you are looking for a high end club full of posers, expensive drinks, and too much attitude this is not the place for you. Come here for a damn good time to hang out with friends while not going broke. Who knows, maybe you will even awaken your inner granny fetish.
