So they have changed the name...
So they have changed the name from Pure to Cosmopolitan. The parking lot is paved and well-lit, and they had a roaming security guard guy walking around. he also seems to take the $5 cover inside the door. But I appreciated the extra set of eyes in the parking lot and the better sense of security. Lots of girls and customers outside on smoke breaks, so you have to weave through them to get in the door.
I am always worried about DUI, so I got a soft drink and they comped me. The interior is much different. Lots of recessed lights and chairs and cocktail tables, with sofa-like chairs along the walls. Lappers on the floor are $10. I believe the lappers in the comfy chairs against the wall are something like $20 with another charge for a wrist band. There is a separate room that I guess was $100/hour or a bottle, and the menu had bottles for a wide range range, mostly from overpriced to godawful stupid expensive. I guess that's for the rapper and his posse that want to chill in a little club in KC. Whatever. The place is basically one room and has the look and feel of a large living room.
The odd thing, the thing that is different from other clubs: the lighting is basically bright. Instead of looking across the club and barely making out shapes or silhouettes, in this place you can actually see everybody's faces, dancers and customers, and see their expressions and all. This isn't the place you go to blend into the woodwork or not be seen by anybody. Some clubs it literally takes 10 minutes for your eyes to adjust to how dimly the place is lit. Not here. Lights are set at closing time brightness all the time.
