JP's Nightclub, also known as Cheers...

JP's Nightclub, also known as Cheers with tits, has re-opened. However, if you remember that dive-y neighborhood bar that happened to have naked chicks dancing, this isn't it. Under new ownership and management this club has gone upscale. The decor is pure gentlemen's club with big-screens and leather sofas and chairs.

Downstairs is a single stage with a single stripper pole, a bar, a few couches and chairs and the "private booths" that had one neighborhood group so concerned. In reality the booths are just cubicles open in the back, and aren't in use at present due to an agreement with the city. The real show is upstairs. A large bar, a stage with two poles and groups of seats with central tables obvious;y meant for table dancing.

The club opens at 5 (downstairs only) with 4 dancers and then the upstairs opens at 9. I wasn't able to stay to see the upstairs open, but the downstairs was good by DC standards, with new staff all the dancers were attractive, minimal hustle for tips as is often the case in DC. Management is still working things out, but if you find yourself in the neighborhood it might be worth checking out.
