The first thing you have to understand is that Missouri does not allow strip clubs and that Kansas has a 10 day wait before you can "join" their private clubs. This makes it difficult for the road warrior in KC for the week.

After being turned away at several Kansas clubs because of the 10 day requirement, I went over to the Missouri side and stopped at the Cosmopolitan club in east KCMO. It had reopened as "Cosmo" back in October, not as a bikini dance club, but rather as an old-fashioned gentleman's club where the women wear not stripper outfits, but rather the sexy clothes a young woman would wear "clubbing". The website talks about Cosmo as the place where gentleman can meet beautiful, sophisticated women over drinks.

A small interior (about 20'x30') greets you when you enter. The decor has been completely overhauled, with comfortable seating and lighting. There is a small stage (more of a platform) but no dancers. Lighting is about what you would get at a fine restaurant. A hostess explained that I could feel free to sit down at a table and chat with a girl, or I could sit at the bar, if I wanted to get my bearings first. The girls, she explained, are independent contractors. There is no stripping or nudity, but "the girls can get pretty wild" and that in the the VIP room ($200) "a lot more goes", but that is all up to the girl.
