So I hadn't been to Camelot's for ages and would have remained fat dumb and happy had my favorite dancer not split the scene from a rival club and ended up working there. I went to visit her on a Tuesday night and alas even though the schedule said that she was supposed to be working that night she called in sick. I guess I should have checked in with her first but what the hell I was there and had some cash in my pocket so I decided to check it out anyway. The fist thing you notice when you enter Camelots is that like several other clubs in DC it is long and narrow so you are basically sitting up against one wall or another. The stage on the first floor is about 3/4 of the way to the back and is probably 7' x 7' square. It is elevated by about 3' so when tipping you are pretty much eye level with the dancer's tasty bits. They have a pole set up in the front of the stage and some of the dancers use it but most simply lean against it or swirl around it. I asked one of the dancers about this and she told me that they are discouraged from performing to much acrobatics because the club want's to remain upscale and they don't want the dancers going spread eagle in the customer's faces. The girls are very nice and while the drinks will set you back $10 a pop there is no cover charge and you can get away with modest tipping quiet easily. One thing to note especially to out-of-towners is that lap dances are not allowed in DC so you won't be tipping the dancers for lap dances. A little something extra in a dancers garter belt along with a pleasant smile will go along ways towards getting one of the dancers to sit and chat with you but as for "extras" there ain't none to be had, at least in the club. The upstairs is nicer and roomer and the stage is bigger and it's where I prefer to hang out but the same protocol holds true up there as it does on the main level. All in all my experience was very pleasurable and I'll be going back but next time I'll text my girl to make sure she's working that night.
