Surprisingly enough, Players was the one club on this trip to Michigan where I had an ok experience. It was fair to middling, but compared to other clubs that I visited (Penthouse, Flight Club, Playhouse, & Landing Strip) it was good. I actually visited three times: Friday and Wednesday evening and Thursday afternoon. The Thursday afternoon foray was the least productive with the club practically bare. I had a nothing dance with one of the long-timers, finished my drink, and headed west on 8 Mile. The other nights were more productive. In general, the talent has diminished (which seems to be the case in all the Detroit clubs). However, I managed to find a few cuties who showed me a very good time in the curtained rooms in the back. I did encounter one Rip-off-bitch, who overcharged me on the number of dances, but I didn't let it get to me too much. I did manage to get there at the start of major remodeling of the back rooms. One consequence of this situation was that the rooms themselves had little to no lighting, maybe one candle if you were lucky. I was informed that the same conglomerate that runs The Penthouse and Flight Club has assumed ownership of Players and is remaking the place to suit their own purposes, with redesigned lapdance areas and an upstairs section as well. It's not a big place, so they don't have a lot of space to play around with. I'm not sure if this is going to be a good thing in the long run for us patrons. For one thing, prices (parking, drinks, admission) will probably rise steeply, just like the other two clubs. Girls will have a bigger payout, so they will be more ruthless in gouging customers. Time will tell. I was told also that this same organization is branching out into the Miami area and into other states as well. It's not going to be your father's Players much longer. I am sour on the Detroit clubs in general: less talent, greedier dancers, more ROB's, not nearly as friendly as before. I no longer look to SE Michigan as a strip club mecca. It's all pretty disappointing.
