Tonight was my first excursion into the Boston stripclub scene - if you can even really call it a scene. Anyway, after heading down to China town my buddy and I -to our chagrin- bypassed the Glass Slipper in favor of Center Folds next door. Based on the [misleading] website and the bullshit reviews Center Folds looked like a classy club, worth even a $20 per person cover. On a Monday. And I'm a chick for fucksake. It took about 3 seconds to size up the tiny, single staged first floor area (the only one open on a monday night apparently), with it's seating arranged around a single stage, with a lonely stripper who looked like she'd taken a bunch of valium before coming to work. She didn't dance. She wasn't attractive. The music sucked. Our waitress was the only saving grace - hot, super friendly, and very attentive. The 'head' floor manager was also very much customer service oriented and after I tried to politely tell him his club sucked and I felt ripped off of $40. The other manager who was first made aware that my friend and I were very unsatisfied (I liked to call him the leprachaun because he was too stumpy to be a bouncer, and no where near as polished as a REAL stripclub manager should look) simply gave us quizzically condescending looks from the other side of the room rather than approach our table and attempt to make sure our experience was positive. So the moral of this story is: centerfolds blows. like in every sense. Do yourself a favor and go next door, save $10/person and listen to some bad ass music, watch some chicks who know how to work the pole and give 110%, and drink some drinks that actually taste like they have liquor in them. The end.
