But it was also a hot August day and I had the excuse that I was wearing very light clothing from the rock concert I was attending earlier. In general, I think it's risky. Unless you're an athlete you risk giving the impression that you're a slob. I would much rather put on a suit and pretend to be a whale.

Now you can see a virtually endless variety of porn without committing a dollar; a decade ago you were paying at least $20, more likely $30, for a single DVD. These prices made renting porn much more attractive but that was still $5-7 for a few nights, or a monthly subscription fee of $15+ dollars. The internet has also made prostitution (and it's gray market relatives like sugar daddy/baby relationships) much more safe than before. Things like P411 and TER didn't exist--you had to look in the yellow pages for a service or cruise the streets--both tremendously risky. And the camshow has given girls the veil of anonymity and decent income without needing to touch anyone. Not to mention that hookup culture and things like Tinder have made finding sex without any P4P much easier. There's just more competition from all fronts. But the other issue is that the middle class has still been hit hard by the recession. I just don't think there's the discretionary income that was available before the crash. Everyone says that stocks are up and unemployment is below 5% but when you look at the labor force participation rate and the U-6 which includes the underemployed, we are still way down from where we were in 2007. Which is why mid-level restaurants are still hurting badly, just like strip clubs.
