Detroit...plan of attack?

So the G20 summit is coming to town tomorrow, and I've decided I want to get the hell out of town and avoid the attendant traffic/protest chaos...and Detroit is just close enough that I can drive there and hang out for a few days. Of course I plan to check a club or two while I'm there, but there are so many of them in the area that, to be honest, it seems kind of intimidating. So I thought I'd ask a few questions to see if you guys could help me sort it all out:

1)What clubs are the absolute must-sees in the space of three days? Note that extras, while not unwelcome, are not necessary...a nice grinding lapdance is great too.
2)Is it worth heading across the border into Windsor to check out the clubs there?
3)Kind of a sensitive question, but I feel I must ask...for clubs with mostly black dancers (and, presumably, patrons as well), will a white-as-a-sheet guy like me get any grief for going in? There are a couple mostly-black clubs I go to at home with no trouble, but it's a different environment and I want to be sure.

Thanks for all your help!

1) Penthouse
2)FlightClub
3)Bogarts

go to priceline.com, name your price, use the airport and dearborn for Hotels, select 4 stars, and you will like land at the hyatt in dearborn, select $55 night and a posh place is yours.

I visited briefly in the summer, and had a lot of fun at both Fight Club and Bogart's. (More fun at the latter, actually, but that was mostly because a hot but rather weird dancer at FC wouldn't leave me alone, so I ended up bolting to Bogart's just to get away from her. I think that was an unusual case, though. Next time I'm in the area, I'll definitely try FC again.)

If you are looking for a primarily black club...I would recomend Chocolate City. This is a nice newly remodled club with a friendly staff.

Flight Club is still a must see in my book. I've been meaning to check out Penthouse, but each time I hit the town I never make it past FC. Besides, I've learned to give the new fancy joints in Detroit a little time to loosen up, and until recently, it didn't sound like Penthouse had reached that point.

I'd definitely skip Windsor. Not much there unless you hate contact.

And by the way, don't stay at the motels on Michigan Ave. ($40 a night and up), unless you don't mind weirdos banging on your door at 5am. Rather, book on www.Hotwire.com for a 3-star hotel by the airport (about $45 a night) but 10 minutes further of a drive (but good breakfast places on Merriman next to the cluster of hotels there.) They're safe, quiet, and great, comfortable beds.

On the top end: Penthouse Club on 8 Mile Rd. Best-looking gals but you'll pay. Circle the block though (because it's a pretty good area) and park on the street. You'll save yourself some change which may be applied to the overpriced drinks. VIP rooms on the second floor are VERY private; only you and your hot date.

EVERYTHING ELSE I found to be hit-and-miss. Shop wisely and don't be afraid to bolt one place (sacrificing the cover) to move onto the next. Evene "reversing the course" on the Don Hamilton clubs (Henry the VIII, Henry the VIII South, and Bogart's Lounge) paid off for me. Each club has a $10 dance day with one club on Monday, another on Tuesday, and the third on Wednesday. Those bring out the crowds to whoever has their $10 day going on. But paying cover at one allows you to get a free pass from the bouncer upon exit for the others so one doesn't have to pay cover again. I did this and found a nice and quiet Henry the VIII's on Bogart's discount day and had a WHOLE LOTTA FUN with a gal who used to escort in Chicago. The explanation was she had been suspended from Bogart's and thereby was working at Henry's temporarily -- which made her low woman on the totem pole and thereby working the slow time at Henry's. She was well worth the "reversal of course"...
