I dated a few when I was younger In my early to mid 60s.

I went out with a couple back in the mid-90s (hey -- they were roommates and joined at the hip -- sue me). Once we went to a movie, along with one of my roommates, another time the three of us hit Perkins after the club closed. It was always as "just friends," though. One was seriously just friends; I have a feeling she was acting as chaperone. The other though was just confusing; lots of pecks on the lips, lots of hugs and some snuggling, whether she had clothes on or not in the club -- and then one night at the club, she said, "You don't want to date me."

Going out was initially her idea. And it was always "just friends" and we all paid our own way.

Oh well. Okay. No win, no loss.

Yes. It was fun at first. But then piece of reality kicked in. The reason we got together. She was still working at the club after we started dating. Her income did not decrease when we got together. I put 2+2 together. The “it’s work so it’s different” didn’t sit good with me anymore.
