Yale discriminating against white and asian students

Well overdue. Everyone knew this was going on for decades. I even knew of a major international company that was specifically recruiting new college grads from hispanic student associations on different college campuses. The sad and crazy thing was they werent even vetting whether the students were actually Hispanic- they just had to be part of the hispanic/latin student groups (which non Hispanic students would actually join although were minorities within them).

If youre white or asian, the best thing to do is just pretend youre from south africa or someplace like Algeria or Morocco, so you can mark African on any racial survey to receive the benefits from it

Makes you wonder how many people are a student somewhere they arent qualified to be, or in a job they didnt actually qualify for

"Makes you wonder how many people are a student somewhere they arent qualified to be,"
Like Jared Kushner, Isabella Rose Giannulli, Olivia Jade Giannulli, all of the other Varsity Blues kids, and thousands of legacies at all of the most prestigious universities in the country. You could make the case that nearly 50% of students at some of the top universities are there not because they are the top students, but for some other reason. Race is just a part of that system.

⚡ Wow, usually it's the other way around, | where whites/asians were more admitted/less discriminated than hispanic/african but there could be a down trend of whites & asians having interest in major-areas the college is known for but it wouldn't justify a deliberate percentage of acceptance the other way. As long as the applicants is qualified, it should be a balanced acceptance, so long as the number is there for the balance to be implemented. College Admissions & Company Hiring Practices originally started with making sure african & spanish were focused on with not being discriminated against, so it's baffling to hear it actually went over in percentage with them, now they have to reverse the practice for whites/asians unprecedented & unexpected.

This has been going on for years but got worse during the big DEI push of the last administration. Being white, affluent, and cisgendered are just obstacles that my kids had to overcome getting into college, because colleges are so desperate for “diversity”. But based on what I’ve seen at their graduations, the ones who got in based on DEI didn’t cut it since literally all the kids accepting diplomas were white and Asian (and Latino at the Florida schools). And with advanced degrees it’s almost all Asian. So despite the colleges’ best efforts to keep them down, the white and Asian kids still succeed.

They do this and wonder why "underrepresented" minorities are at the low end of the grade scale. But undergrad masters less than say med school. If you are choosing between two surgeons and there was even a chance one got the job on something other than merit, would you want that or the other one?

@fatdan99, a lot of top schools don't even factor in legacies anymore.
