I never tip Security for searching me or my stuff. If I did that even at one dollar per search, I’d be down one hell of a lot of money for the 12 years. I’ve been going to Hong Kong. I do, however, tip the robe guy, a dollar each time. That would add up to at least $1,000 by now.
And after the first few months of my visits, I figured it out that it’s a heck of a lot cheaper just to get the overnight room with the hk VIP card discount. And also to ride the Zona shuttle. In my opinion, it’s much safer than any taxi or Uber and also walking or driving the 1 mile from the border with the bandits with badges harassing some of us.
