But, with information that's public and well-analyzed, there's no way of knowing if it's doing more harm than good. Obama's deal with Iran assumed that Iran wasn't serious about seeking the destruction of Israel. But that may turn out to be like the common assumption in the 1930s that Mien Kampf shouldn't be taken seriously.

Most Republicans in Congress are more worried about losing in the primaries than in the general. Significantly higher gas prices means higher prices on many things. Wasn't the biggest reason that people voted for Trump is that they wanted lower prices? Trump would lose if the election were held today. Gerrymandering is the only hope for the Republicans to hold the House. They are likely to hold the Senate, because almost all the seats they are defending are in MAGA-dominated states. Inflation was 1.26% in 2016 when Trump first won his first term. Inflation wasn't why he became MAGA's beloved leader, it may not be enough for MAGA to dump him. But trade schools are much better at teaching people skills that are vital to others. Iran can't risk keeping Strait of Hormuz closed down for long, for both economic and military reasons. They'll starve themselves. Trump has also made it crystal clear that any attack on a ship in the strait will be met with catastrophic reprisals. Right now the shippers are still scared while military action is ongoing, but that will reverse course soon enough.

And the world moves on, just with a much less dangerous Iran.

Trump’s focus should be on domestic issues and the economy. That’s why he was elected. International affairs is a very distant second. Ironic his foreign affairs moves are going to impede if not tanked the economy. It’s total BS that Iran was an imminent threat to the U.S. and Israel is not our responsibility.
