Ah. Guessing headphones are used to help cancel out chaotic noise. And is that a fidget spinner? One guy I used to work with always seemed to get fascinated with spinning things, like the blade on a pizza cutter; we suspected he might be on the spectrum. And I didn't know some had difficulty speaking and used devices like that. Live and learn. Thanks, @nicespice.

I’m not sure what the message is sending us on normalizing girls who are on the spectrum. Are they to be desired, played with, or simply aware. Whatever the case, I have had the sensitivity thing my whole life and so do my children. I guess if I had a doll around maybe I’d feel better about myself? Thankfully my kids hate dolls and just learn to cope, like their father.

Like so many things in life, there’s just more options out there than when we were young. My kids have flown on a plane more times than I have before I was 30, so I’m not complaining about that either. I’m even thinking about hiring a nutritionist for the family as well which was never thought of back in the day. Except with AI, I can do it myself. There’s just more options out there for specific needs, even if some don’t make sense for me.
