I think at some point in the future, they will have either 24 or 32 teams in the playoff and then bowl games as we knew them will disappear forever.

Back on topic... I like college football but excessive bowl games got out of hand years ago, I mean come on, pop tarts bowl, snoop dog bowl, etc. Yes it's all about money but enough is enough.

Regarding the actual college football playoff, When they increased it to 12 games IMO it became excessive but yeah the next step is 16 games in the future. All about the money again but as I stated last year 8 games should be the limit as that's about the amount of teams that have a realistic chance of being considered qualified to actually be a champion.

New Years should be fun.

Just my opinion and I didn't go back to 100% verify this but I believe last year every team that had a bye in the CFP lost their game and this year every bye team lost except one. The layoff is effecting teams. It seems to me that they're going to have to do something regarding giving teams byes as the current formula is not working the way the planners planed it.
