I have heard some MAGA voters actually admit that they regret their vote but it usually has to hit them hard personally. People that have lost their businesses or lost significant money due to tariffs, people seeing their health insurance or prescription drug prices skyrocket in price. How about Latinos for Trump? ICE is racially profiling and just violently grabbing anyone Latino citizen or not. The racism and hatred of Trump only go's so far. When people get their health insurance renewal for $2500 per month the loyalty runs out. The reality is Trump doesn't care. He calls affordability a hoax. Translation, he doesn't give a fuck about you.

Trump has never been a perfect candidate. He's very much flawed. But he might as well be George Washington in comparison to what the other side was offering. And I'm not just talking about Harris specifically. I couldn't imagine voting for a member of the modern Democratic party for dog catcher, let alone president. So no remorse.

If you can't find any faults with a politician that you voted for then you're not paying attention. It's the nature of the game.

The Democrats needed to come up with someone better than the Biden-Harris team in the last election to put up against Trump. The previous four years had brought a bungled Afghanistan withdrawal, printing up and passing out three trillion dollars to offset the negative economic effects of the lockdowns which then led to high inflation, ten million illegal immigrants entering the country, a proxy war against Russia in the Ukraine that the Ukrainians could not win and media gaslighting to cover up the fact the president was senile. Neither party really will address our major problems like the two trillion dollar a year deficits, Israeli control of our foreign policy, the approaching insolvency of Social Security and Medicare and the policies of the Fed which leads to inflation and a series of bubbles that then pop.

Eggs are $1.29/dozen today ? Where do you find this crap ? Prices are down but not this much. And that's because of outbreaks of bird flu in prior years, not anything Trump did. The overall inflation rate has remained around 3% since Trump took office. It hasn't gone down.

Why is Trump having to bail out farmers? Apparently the $12B he is giving them will cover less than half their losses.

On the world stage, the US has shown moral and military weakness under Trump's campaign to appease Russia and win a Nobel peace prize for himself. A truly pathetic and shameful period in our history.

Why don't we have the political will to confront long term but serious problems (e.g., national debt, climate change, secure energy, effective education).

Gas prices fluctuate, but yesterday when I wrote this, there were gas stations in areas of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Colorado that had gasoline at $2 or below per gallon. You can see prices at individual stations by zooming in. gasbuddy.com

Eggs in my area are $3.99 per dozen on average. Retail price not wholesale. The prices are similar to those under Biden except for the spikes due to bird flu. We'll see if Trump admin can prevent those spikes in the future.

Another doozy in your list is No Tax on Social Security. That's a lie or at least very misleading. There is only a temporary new tax deduction for an eligible subset of seniors 65+.

@Electronman: There's very little in our system that encourages good candidates or good governance. Congress has abdicated much of it's power because it's easier to posture and fund raise than to make tough decisions. Addressing the issues you cite would mean making hard choices and likely making a lot of people mad in the short term. There's not a lot of genuine leadership out there but rather a lot of folks who want to keep getting elected so they can keep the trappings of power.

Basically democracy is a terrible system. It may be better than all the alternatives but it's still a terrible system.

Actually Trump is so ashamed of his handling of the economy he refuses to put out economic data. The jobs numbers are so bad he refuses to put them out. What does that tell you? We are now going to have millions of Americans with unaffordable health insurance so they will either pay $2000 per month for insurance or just have no insurance at all which will drive up the prices for everyone. Is it possible to have a humane and effective immigration policy that does not involve masked military on our streets and racial profiling? I have no problem with arresting and deporting criminals but, for me, there is a meaningful distinction between murderers, drug lords, rapists (some of whom are undocumented immigrants) and immigrants who contribute talent and labor to society?

How about support for science-based technology and health care, some of which has extended and improved the quality of life for so many Americans.... certainly for me, and probably even for you. I'd like to see my tax monies invested in science and effective education, rather than being used to bail out American farmers from a problem that was manufactured by Trump's tariff war.

Should we expect Trump or any political leader to respect and abide by the Constitution and US laws? What, if any code of ethics should we expect of our political leaders and those in powerful positions?

I could go on... but I'm not convinced that we should be blinded to the short comings of Trump and his administration (or any administration) by demonizing the alternative. We should all be asking how to make our country better for all Americans by focusing more on problems and their solutions than by taking sides and casting blame on those who disagree with you.

The judicial system is more fair under Trump than Biden. You seem to be confusing Biden's pardons for Trump and pardoning the unlawful convictions of people at the Capitol on 1/6/21 was necessary and just. Here is what I see, we are poised for strong economy in 2026-2028. The One Big Beautiful Bill (I really dislike that name as it means nothing.) James Carville posted in the election offices for Clinton "It's the Economy, Stupid" and THAT is solid today.

My long-winded point is: If Trump's policies produce low inflation (CPI last week was 2.6%, projected to be 3.2% by multiple economic forecasters), increased wages and 2nd Quarter GDP of 3.8% (it's 100% above what the Fed's Powel has been stating). BTW, Q1 2025 (Jan-Mar) GDP was -0.6% which was attributed to a hangover from 2024 before Trump was elected. Throw out 2020 and 2021 due to COVID, and 2022-2024 GDP was like 2.5%.

If 2026 expands as predicted, the Nov '26 Elections will be interesting. All the Dems have is "Trump BAD." They have had ZERO solutions the past 5 years, and what they did do created a hot mess even flies wouldn't touch.
