If you’re a fan of college football, and your favorite team is NOT a blue blood team (with exception of Ohio State) you have to be loving this season.
With how chaotic and crazy NIL has become, one good thing that has come from it is the dynasty era of college football may be over, or it’s at least on pause right now. Penn State has proven spending endless money on coaching staff doesn’t guarantee success. A lot of other teams, Texas, Texas Tech, Miami, are realizing when you spend endless money on players it doesn’t mean you’re going undefeated in your conference. Granted Miami and Tech still are likely to make the playoffs, I doubt they expected to lose to ASU and Louisville.

last commentNIL and the transfer portal. They go hand in hand. No allegiances, all about the money. Throw in it's now down to a Big 4 of conferences. Men's basketball is very similar.
It's now wide open, any given Saturday. I don't have a team per se, so I'm good with it. I live in Penn State territory so their fall has been entertaining.

Definitely entertaining. It’s why I prefer college football to the NFL. You never know what to expect. I was at the Miami game Friday night and fans were talking about firing Cristobal- as if he was the one who threw 4 picks (actually 5 but one was called back).

The transfer portal has been a mess. I’m a Georgia fan and we’ve lost multiple recruits and players the last few years over last minute NIL offers.

Almost went to the Miami game but the traffic and the weather scared me off. Good move. Convicts lost. I miss Jimmy Johnson (and I guess Howard S too)

Hmmm speaking of Georgia losing players and Miami comes up…
Depending on what GaTech does, Miami may be able to even have a second loss and make it into the playoffs.

Penn State dropping four games in a row was shocking. Phil Steele picked them to win the national title. They have a lot of guys who were four and five star recruits on the team. Ten wins per season should be automatic with that roster. I once heard a pundit say, "Mario Cristobal is a great coach, but he always seems to lose one game every year against a team they should have beat."
NIL for college athletes is a lot like dancers: most of them will make more money annually as an 18 to 24 year old than they will make later in life.

Once college football became a minor league version of the NFL, I stopped watching. The idea we're paying tweens to play a child's sport while they're supposed to be getting an education is nonsense. I won't even bet on this charade any longer.

^ Agree - they’re essentially minor league pro teams that happen to be affiliated with colleges. I’ll still watch if I’m stuck on a Saturday. I watched Michigan / Washington game while waiting around a AirB&B before an out of town wedding. Good game - better than nothing.

^ I will too, if Gilligan's Island reruns aren't on.
