⚠️ Something Phishy is Happening on Hong Kong's websites

Two observations:

  • When I browse to hktijuana [dot] com, I get redirected to a new website for Las Chavelas.
  • This new website has links to hotelcascadas [dot] com [dot] mx, which my browser reports contains malware. The correct URL for Cas is hotelcascadas.com.

I don't have the capability or time to investigate further. Maybe they're just deploying some new software, or maybe they've been compromised.

Be careful out there!

@RonJax2 - there could be multiple reasons to bring down a website, mostly for maintenance and backend updates. 1.) they could be updating the site and took it offline (the actual site), 2.) probably the most common issue is the web hosting went down with connection or server issues (again this is common if you don't have redundancy) and 3.) backend end database changes or updates forcing the site to need to go down if clusters are not set up.

There are a lot more but those are basic reasons.

Regarding a website getting hacked, that is a high probability as well since it is one of the only servers that could run outside a DMZ or internal network. Locking those down are much harder.

The issue with a hacked website usually isn't the website itself, it is the connection to a database or data stored on a site with forms and stuff.

Anyways log way of saying probably not as big of it is up and running again. Yet until we know who really knows....lol

Hackers can also mess with your DNS service. That can cause you to end up at at a website that's imitating the one you wanted to go to.

🔺👍 ' I've Been On Some Websites Dat' Give Out "Cloud Fare Messages" Which I Think Cloud Fare Monitors Website Analytics/Traffic/Internet Data For Websites, But That Cloud Fare Goes Away After Lil' While.
