Funny, we must have been reading that article around the same time. I actually did follow a fave onto onlyfans. While there, I discovered other adult performers and faves that had faded away from the clubs and other media.
As a rule, I hate subscriptions. I like to buy something outright and own it, for better or worse. This is true for homes, cars, appliances, and access. I paid $99 one time for lifetime VIP access here on TUSCL. Paying a recurring fee when you never know how much you are or are not going to use a service, what the quality or quantity of posts will be, etc is not something I choose to do (Fuck you, Netflix and Disney+). Even worse, many of the onlyfans performers add a second PPV level within onlyfans where you pay additional money for additional access to specific content. Fuck that greedy-ass shit. That is online ROB behavior.
I graduated from college before high speed internet access was commonplace in dorm rooms. I remember most students used the computer labs and only the rare and privileged few had personal desktops in their rooms. Fewer still had laptops, and all used LAN cords. Loading Pam Anderson's latest nudes was measured in minutes. Does anyone else remember NetScape? The cost of DSL access for us was figured into dorm costs, as broadband would be today. With most of the current generation of college students watching everything online (YouTube, Netflix, Paramount+) instead of on cable or OTA, the impact of onlyfans on internet speeds should be moot.
However, as a parent or an educator, we know that everything is forever on the internet. Incels like the Idaho student killer or the recent MN school shooter (no names) can see that Susie Doe likes rubbing her snatch and telling him how hot she is for him online, but snubs him irl. Those guys aren't wired right to adjust their expectations, compartmentalize rejection, and move on in a healthy fashion. The reaction of people today and 15 years from now when they find your online content can be catastrophic and traumatic. Even people who did porn when they were broke young adults and have gone on to start careers in teaching or real estate are losing their jobs and reputations when those old videos surface (and of course all the ones currently on OF).
If you or a parent, godparent, or favorite uncle, you need to teach children not to even get started chasing that easy money. That is the only way they can protect themselves from unintended consequences.
