The majority of my biggest spenders did not wear suits. Only a couple of my regulars wore full suits and they weren't typically the biggest of my spenders (except for one I'll say, who was good for about $600-700 but still wasn't my biggest spender, although he paid me literally to have drinks and dinner and chat with him... he'd order us both steak dinners as we were both foodies who liked to drink dry red wine and chat. He rarely ever got dances. Most guys in expensive suits aren't that generous but can be found during day shifts at upscale clubs).
My favorite clientele (because they generally spent the most and I was also many of their types so win/win) was the following: middle aged, suburban dad types, who were dressed as if they were grabbing lunch with their in laws or something. You want to look casual, relaxed, but looking like some effort and thought was put in and of course not looking cheap.
Although I had one big spender who looked like a bum. I didn't even want to talk to him, but it was really slow and he was the only guy by himself so I introduced myself. He was wearing a baggy t shirt and baggy jeans with paint all over them and his hair was messy and sounded like a stereotypical southern hick. Turns out he was in town on business for a few months working on a construction project he was heading. Within a minute of chatting he asked for dances. We spent the rest of my shift alternating between dancing and sitting around chatting/drinking. Made over $900 from him that night, including drinks and whatnot he spent well over 1K. He came back regularly and spend lots of $ on me while he was there on business. And to think if the club hadn't been so dead I might not have even approached him. But, he was an outlier.
So yeah in general, nicely put together casual suburban dad attire was my go-to for customers I'd approach first, from a dancer's perspective. Plus you never know what drunk stripper might spill something on you or whatever. I don't think it's worth it, you can look just fine in a sweater or button up or whatever.
