No Kings Protests

Avatar for dustyj

Millions of people came out to protest yesterday. One thing is certain, Trump is wildly unpopular. Appointing completely incompetent Trump loyalists to virtually every position doesn't help. Apparently people aren't happy with having anti-science, anti-education, anti-vaccine and anti-climate change morons making decisions for us and a wannabe dictator kidnapping people and completely ignoring court rulings.

Actually, Trump's approval in the RCP average of polls--which correctly predicted the election--is -3.8. Could be better, but about the average of the last couple months, and a lot better than his first term.

realclearpolling.com

But before you get all frisky over this, the same site shows the Right Track/Wrong Track better than it's been at any time over the last 15 years.

realclearpolling.com

Views of Trump are also net positive on immigration, and the Republican party polls more positively than the Democratic party.

Yeah, we've all heard about the 5 million protesters this weekend. This will be forgotten like the last few "game changer" protests. Anyone remember Hands Off or Smash Oligarchy? Me neither. No one's gonna care in a month.

Why? It isn't that Trump isn't making mistakes. I share your views on freak show RFK, for one, and vaccines. (BTW no one gives a rip about climate change anymore. It polls near the bottom of issues for the American people, and even Greta "Doom Goblin" Thunberg has moved on to Gaza.)

It's that the Democratic party provides no alternative. It's race, sex, and LGBTQ grievance politics, literally blaming the American people for not embracing the worst presidential ticket of my lifetime (thanks for giving Walz such a platform, he's the gift that keeps on giving to the Republican party). It's pro-illegal (I notice you conflate illegal immigrants with all immigrants; we all see this). It's pro-thug in general, cashless bail, "equity," and all the grifts that have hollowed out inner cities. If you want to talk education, look at the big blue cities and the utter clusterfuck that are their public schools, despite some of the highest per-student spending in the nation.

If the Democratic party ran a 1992 Bill Clinton, they could clean house. I'd switch my registration too. He was tawdry but effective. But instead, they're in thrall to their worst.

Instead, who do they have?
Harris? A year ago, Dems were trying to cut her from the ticket because she was such a drag on it.
Walz? Scott Jennings described him best, a mixture of mean-spiritedness and buffonery. Nominated to code-speak to white males only to be a fatass soyboy.
Pritzker? Speaking of fatass! Billionaire by inheritance, governor of a failing blue state.
Newsom? The pictures of California, and fleeing residents, speak for themselves.
Buttigieg? LOL! Incompetence at every level. If he weren't gay he never would have gotten out of South Bend.
Moore? Another blue state governor rapidly declining.
Shapiro? Probably the Dems best choice, if only they could silence the Jew-hating caucus.
AOC? Don't make me laugh, what's she ever done besides clap back on social media?

Instead, it's Orange Man Bad 24/7.

You can't beat something with nothing.

It's very common to have the population so disgusted by the president that millions of people are protesting less than 6 months in. Trump doesn't have any interest in doing the job. He doesn't read. He doesn't read the daily briefings he gets. He's so narcissistic and selfish that literally everything is about him. What bribes can I take and how can I enrich myself? What scores can I settle? Everything is about himself. Nothing is about making people's lives better.

Republicans always leave the economy much worse off than when they took office and a Democrat always has to come in and clean up the mess. GDP and job creation have already taken a nosedive since Trump has taken office. Our economy was called the envy of the world when Biden left office. When Trump leaves office it will once again be a total shit show.

"Trump is wildly unpopular."
"Actually a large amount of our country is racist and sexist"
"Our economy was called the envy of the world when Biden left office. "

These are just comments and opinions not based on reality.

  • Dems just hate Trump. The DNC Machine has been is full throttle to Balkanize America. The "Summer of Love" V2 is being funded by haters of America. Biden sucked asses of CCP and did nothing to enforce trade agreements as the CCP worked to get around them. If rump is so unpopular, why is the Dems.

  • So far in 2025, the favorability of Dems ranges from 21% to 39% depending on the poll; CNN and NBC have them in the low 20% range. "Peaceful" Protests, Palisades fire and idiotic behavior of Dems, hiding Biden's severe cognitive decline that really needs the 25thA, Harris was a fool of monstrous proportions, Waltz was chosen as a running mate, AFG withdrawal was the worse military disaster in American history with 13 dead soldiers using an airfield the Taliban was to "secure", Russia marched right into Ukraine, Hamas murder 1,300 Jews with Biden not giving Israel the supported need and so on destroyed them.

  • So far this year, $2.5T in foreign investment has been committed. I certainly don't see this happening in other countries.

  • The price of gas and oil has declined

  • Inflation is slowly moving down and GDP will edge up in 2025

  • Eggs" have recovered

  • Year end GDP is looking at 3.0%-3.5%

  • Racist? Seriously? Harris didn't get elected as she is a moron even with her handlers.

Trump will likely become less popular as time goes on. When things like natural disasters hit with Trump freezing funding to FEMA and once again showing that he could care less about the American people. He's certainly not going to get more popular. He's a self absorbed pile of shit who only cares about himself.

So some professional organizers managed to leverage sympathy for immigrants to mobilize some of the malcontents in our population to riot, er, I mean protest. Yawn Hardly a great feat nowadays in this era of mass social media and never-ending angst among the self proclaimed victim class of our population.
.
Yet a couple of melodramatic dipshits on this board interpret that as some broader indictment of the mood of the nation. Alrighty then. 😉

Sasha Stone said it best:

"The Left did what they always do: scream about their hatred of Trump. We get it. You hate the guy. You can think of nothing else. You can’t sleep, you can’t eat. All you see when you close your eyes is ORANGE MAN BAD, and you can’t stand that you threw everything you had at him, and here he still stands. What else can they do except show the rest of the country that they are as annoying as they ever were.

They could have used that protest for any reason other than to express their collective hatred of Trump and the military. But they didn’t. They didn’t fundraise for any cause. They did not push any specific issue. They didn’t protest the upcoming budget bill, nothing. It was just fodder for their social media. LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME!!"

My issue with MAGA is their psuedo conservative phoniness. You fellas are excusing all of his hypocrisy, meanwhile he’s running up a tab like a drunken sailor on liberty. Spending 45 million dollars on a dog and pony show. So far he’s spent close to two hundred million taxpayer dollars just playing golf, but it’s ok boys Trump has our best interest at heart, he’s making America great by kicking out the workers we need, he’s making America great by attacking our friends and allies, yet the best y’all can come up with is a Sec of Defense that discusses our military plans over an unsecured text network, a Sec of HHS, who’s an anti-vaccine advocate and an all around weirdo, the list goes on and on. What happened to him showing his tax returns, or his plan for a better health care reform?
Y’all keep deflecting to what the last guy did, well he’s not president of any country any more, demand that the leadership that you elected do their fucking jobs, or shut the fuck up.

Protests are important in undemocratic countries. They're the least violent way to cause a change in government, but are a major crap shoot. More likely to cause a change from bad to worse. Look at Iran.
.
The Selma march was a rare example of a protest that really accomplished something. Because the protesters were well disciplined Christian martyrs.
.
At the anti-Trump protests, most protesters leave when they are legally required to. The Luigi Mangione types stay, throw lethal projectiles at LE, and burn and vandalize property (that doesn't belong to Trump). The violence gets almost all the press coverage. Great way to win over the non-MAGA Trump voters.
.
People were naturally reluctant to vote for a politician who rose up in a very stupidly, wastefully run blue state. Instead of a Democrat governor who managed to win in a red state. Just doubling down on the stupidity to assume the issue was racism or sexism.

@25: I agree with a lot of what you said regarding the spending and the immigration raids.
.
Frankly on the government spending side its not just Trump either. We're getting push back from Senate (so-called) Republicans on simple shit like building in a work requirement for grown able bodied men to receive Medicaid, a program that was never intended for them in the first place. It's fucking mind numbing how the paradigm has shifted.
.
As far as immigration, I've already shared my views on this site ad nauseum. It's asinine to believe that we can easily replace 8 million people in our work force doing the crappiest jobs we have.
.
I vote in every Republican primary, but I have not voted for Trump in a single one. I like some of the things that he's done for sure, but in too many other ways he behaves more like a populist Democrat.

`1. The protests were BULLSHIT and the numbers are not accurate.

What I mean is that they "moved" from town to town in less populated areas and they double counted people. In my small town the event moved from a different town with the same people. In my town there was 30 people that showed up. I recognized 3. I talked to them afterwards and they said that out of the 30 only 6 were from my small town. Rest were out of towners. So let that sink in when they "count" numbers.

  1. The protests are just people kicking and screaming and dont do shit. Sorry to burst anyones bubble. I fully support people right to protest.... good on you. But everyone is getting sick of it. Every week there is a different one all saying the same thing.... ORANGE MAN BAD. Seriously... look at it. Not helping the cause. Especially when people see them turn into riots like LA and vandalism like in other areas.

  2. People are sick of the bull shit political rhetoric by all sides. Stop calling everyone a fucking nazi, racists, etc or a commie, socialist, etc. All it is doing is dividing a country. ESPECIALLY FROM ELECTED OFFICIALS. This make extremeist from all political parties do things. Murdered a Health insurance CEO, tried to kill Trump twice, Free Palestine mowed down people, etc. (see below)

What happened in MN with the murder of the two State Congress people. This was because of political rhetoric. Need more facts on this one. But crazies are on all sides of the political spectrum. Also before people point and say HE WAS MAGA..... here are some facts.

The two Congress people just voted to kill the law giving illegals state funded healthcare. Those two are also the two key Dem's that helped balance the budget and worked with Republicans and voted against Dem's on issues.

The Whackadoddle was appointed to two boards by Dem Governors Dayton and Walz. He was antiabortion. Lots of lies about his "political" affiliation floating around saying he is DEM or he was MAGA.... so dont believe either side yet.

But regaurdless all sides have fucking whackadoodles that take things to the extreme. see point 3.

  1. CONGRESS is the fucking issue. Sorry to burst anyones bubble. You can say it is Trump or it was Biden... etc. Congress doesn't do shit but point fingers and collect pay checks. All the while fucking over everyone.

  2. The 2025 Tax code which Trump wants to keep helps everyone. It isn't just for the "rich". See my attachment.

The issue is a revenue problem... the budget was predicated on the tax code expiring and going back to 2017 code. With that not happening in this current bill CONGRESS needs to cut spending. We dont have the "revenue" coming in.

The whole "fraud" being found by DOGE. Well it didn't find "fraud" perse it exposed waste and abuse, with little bit or possible fraud. Take NGO's... an NGO can ask for $100M in federal aid to "FEED PEOPLE". Then show they need it by reveiling who they will help with SS#'s. It gets approved. Now the NGO pays $50M to its 10 board members, $10M in rent to a board members realtive for "Rental spaces", $15M to another board members realtive to deliver/serve the food... that leaves $25M for FOOD to feed the people. SEE THE ABUSE. Now the possible "fraud" is if they use "DEAD" SS# numbers found by DOGE that just shows a "body". They dont directly get a check but show someone "living" because that number isn't indicated as "dead" in all the systems. SEE THE PROBLEMS.

Anyways I can go on and on with both sides and things being found.

But moral of the story is both political parties are FUCKED and need to stop pointing fingers. Both need to float back towards center. Both need to understand that no matter what issue that their political party is in the minority most of the time. (40% float left, 40% float right, 20% middle).

@crsm - Pretty well said. The latest Orange Man Bad protest (AARP division) are just social events at this point.

Congress, knowing it can't get anything done, has willingly ceded a lot of power to the other branches. I love how the left wasn't complaining about an overpowered judicial branch when it found rights to gay marriage and abortion. Now, the right complains about judge-shopping for nationwide injunctions when they've been doing that for years as well. Self-awareness isn't great on either side.

And it's always the party out of power that sees the need to get the deficit handled. When they get into power, the GOP wants to cut taxes and the Dems want to add more entitlements. The Trump tax cuts didn't generate the return to the public treasuries we were promised. Under Trump, our national debt jumped even before COVID. The bond market isn't fucking around. If we don't get it handled, we could be looking at more downgrades, even defaults.

But as far as "waste, fraud, and abuse," it goes hand in hand with the amount of government. Government might be the only enterprise where "it didn't work, therefore, we need to spend more money on it!" doesn't get you laughed right the fuck out of the room. Dems are screaming bloody murder now that that whole NGO racket is getting shut down. Taxpayer money to NGOs, NGOs use that money to elect more Democrats. It all needs to get ground to a halt, then the machinery destroyed so it can't happen again.

If Trump really gives you a weed up your ass, don't count on an 11th year of yelling Orange Man Bad to do what the first 10 didn't.

Try showing that you (and the government) can get things done.
Kick the race nonsense to the curb; it's not racist to want law and order so your business isn't vandalized and your kids not shot on the way to school.
Actually stop holding men (particularly white working class men) in contempt. You don't need a $20 million consulting project to realize that's why you lost them.
Stop treating Pride Month like Ramadan.
Ignore the radical greens, end EV mandates, make shit in America (this is where Biden was actually on to something, I prefer his approach to Trump's sloppy ass tariffs).
Actually look to make America stronger and more respected in the world, rather than getting into every little regional conflict, or apologizing for the sins of white settler intersectionalist colonialism or whatever the lefty academic buzzword bingo of the day is.

@rickdugan "It's asinine to believe that we can easily replace 8 million people in our work force doing the crappiest jobs we have."

This is so true assuming technology will remain stagnant. HOWEVER, a transition is on the horizon in the very near future.

AI will have a serious effect on "office jobs" and decisions/plans requiring fewer people aside from those to develop AI/robotic hardware/software. Example: Look what GE and Carrier did with refrigeration/cooling to ice producers, or cars to the horse/buggy industry, and airline to trains. Even war is rapidly changing to "Drones not Bones" with AI analysis and planning - what took 1-2 weeks to plan, Palantir can do it in less than a day with better accuracy and current information.

In 5 years Optimus Robots & Boston Robotics will be able to do will be stunning. In 10 years, you won't recognize the low-end workforce.

Get the violent illegals out. It'll take a long time. We'll probably keep a lot of illegals who have been here for a long time 5+ years. A special case will be needed for them as probably non-voters who can qualify for gov't bennies. The 14thA needs to end Birth Right Citizenship if the parents aren't US Citizens - especially no more Birthing Vacas by foreigners. That'll be a wicked mess to fix.

As robots become practicable, the illegal alien workforce will not be needed as they are used today in hotels, construction, ag, trucking and other jobs American citizen don't want to do. Then, you have a problem of where will these people (uneducated illegals and under-educated Americans) find work to support themselves beside 100% dependency on Welfare Wards of the State the Dems want to much more of.

Clinton supported getting people to work to get them on Welfare, and the Welfare ranks fell. Obama reversed all that in a major way. Amazing what the quest for power and control can do to people. And how naive voters can be.
