Disturbing Element

On this past Tuesday afternoon, while walking back to my room at Cascadas from HK, I was approached by the "Cuantos" guy on the HK/Cascadas side of the sidewalk. I try to avoid any interaction or pretense of interaction with drugs. I waved him off and quickly went on my way. Normally, they are on the other side of the alley, so it hasn't been hard to just walk the HK side of the street. However, not only was I approached on the HK side, I later saw the same guy going into Cascadas with a very light security pat-down. He went into the area where HK has the short-term room for street girls.
Has anyone else noticed this or other signs of narco penetration? Is it a sign that business is slow and they can't pay the fees to keep them out? I remember reading stories of them storing stashes in club...especially Gold Palace.

last commentWow, that’s a potentially huge problem. If the “quantos” guys start standing near Cascadas/HK’s alley entrance, that’s going to make the guys who stay at Cascadas use the front entrance more often. Personally, I’ve walked on the side of the alley where they normally are and haven’t had any issues. But I think we should wait and see what happens next with the quantos guys before changing our approach to walking in the alley.

that shit has been going on for the 11 years I've been going and I'm sure it goes way back before.

I've seen them run into Cascadas to hide from the Policia as they come down the alley many times, with a very brief pat down if even a pat down at times.

Sounds like a concerning shift. The fact that he was on the HK side and even made it into Cascadas with barely any check is definitely unusual. Could be a sign that the usual boundaries are slipping or security is getting lax. Would be good to hear if others have seen similar things lately—it might help paint a clearer picture of what's going on.
