I saw Phil Donahue passed away. I didn't agree with his world view but he had some really interesting guests and shows. When you look back it's really some great episodes about the going on's in the world. I also love the old theme youtube.com
My question is were you ever into daytime tv? It did get real ghetto with like Springer and Maury and one point. Stuff like Geraldo, Montell Williams, Morton Downey Jr.
You had Roy Innis physically brawling with Neo Nazis and Sharpton. youtu.be youtu.be

Most Maury shows got repetitive as all fuck. Same ghetto bullshit over and over. But sometimes he would have a different types of shows. Like the Phobia show and Guess the gender show. That was TV gold.

Maury is a redneck/white trash icon.
Donahue was great for social commentary, pro peace pro women's rights . He gave the marginalized a public voice at a time when they didn't have one.

I remember my mother watching David Letterman in the afternoon. I was maybe 10 years old and watched with her when I was home from school in summer. Pretty sure he was the first guy to wear a velcro suit and leap up against a wall and stick there. This was maybe late 70's I think.

I watched Donahue in his early years during the summer when I was at home from school on vacation. I was young and dumb. I enjoyed his show very much without realizing he was a flaming liberal.

The daddy of daytime talk show. I can see him now, huffing and puffing up and down...pushing his glasses back up.....

Yeah, you gotta give credit where credit is due. Without Donahue, there would be no Oprah and without Oprah there’s no Dr Phil or Sally Jessie Rafael or Ellen or Jerry Springer or Rikki Lake or all the others I can’t remember
