Spearmint Rhino Van Nuys Raided ?

Passed by here this evening and saw a few ATF agents standing inside the doorway of the club and PD were inside the parking lot telling incoming patrons to turn around and go home. Not a good sign for this place. Wow.

A web search revealed nothing I could find. But here’s some long past Spearmint Rhino stories (not limited to Van Buys) that popped up.
2013: “Man shoots dancer, self at Spearmint Rhino”
2014: “drunk customer spent £7,500 in one night in Spearmint Rhino, several others have come forward to claim they too felt they had been “exploited” by staff”

If it was ATF agents, then logically it would be liquor or hookah violations (buying & serving untaxed liquor or tobacco). Not sure what else it could be unless an owner or employee was maybe smuggling firearms as a side hustle.

Ya, I couldn’t find anything in the paper/online either. Sometimes they don’t report on this stuff until later. ATF also investigates prostitution rings/sex trafficking as well but it could very well do with the aforementioned.

^ WRONG AGAIN!

Investigative mission
Edit
The Secret Service is tasked with safeguarding the payment and financial systems of the United States from a wide range of financial and cyber-based crimes. Financial investigations include counterfeit U.S. currency, bank and financial institution fraud, mail fraud, wire fraud, illicit financing operations, and major conspiracies. Cyber investigations include cybercrime, network intrusions, identity theft, access device fraud, credit card fraud, and intellectual property crimes. The Secret Service is also a member of the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) which investigates and combats terrorism on a national and international scale. Also, the Secret Service investigates missing and exploited children and is a partner of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).[7]

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE), commonly referred to as the ATF, is a domestic law enforcement agency within the United States Department of Justice. Its responsibilities include the investigation and prevention of federal offenses involving the unlawful use, manufacture, and possession of firearms and explosives; acts of arson and bombings; and illegal trafficking and tax evasion of alcohol and tobacco products. The ATF also regulates via licensing the sale, possession, and transportation of firearms, ammunition, and explosives in interstate commerce

Lol. Let’s just say that any agency can cast a wide net whenever they want to bust someone for something. I would say this club is definitely on the radar for something they deem “suspicious” or “unlawful”.
