He was the Center on those NY Knick teams that that won all those championships back in the sixties and early seventies, he was known as the unmovable force in the center of the team that had Bill Bradley, Walt Frazier, Earl Monroe, Dick Barnett, Jerry Lucas, Damn he was a great one. Sadly, 'scrub, you never got to watch when the NBA wasn't a glorified street ball contest, and the players didn't wear shorts that ended just above their ankles.
I was a fan of the ABA Indiana Pacers around that time. The Pacers were the ABA champion and arranged to play the NBA champion Knicks in an exhibition game. The Pacers kept the game close but couldn't beat the superior Knicks.
I was first an NBA fan when the NBA was on Sunday afternoons. The Knicks with Reed & Frazier and the Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks (Lew Alcindor days) and Lakers seem like the only teams that were on.
I became a college basketball fan in the later part of the 70’s and now it’s been years since I watched an NBA game
