OT: World Baseball Classic

Anyone been watching/following? Has it been worthwhile/good-baseball? Better than MLB?

I used to regularly follow/watch baseball till 1994 (even liked/followed the College World Series when the University of Miami was good) – in ’94 there was a MLB strike and by the time the season ensued I had mostly lost interest/habit of baseball.

Post ’94 till about 2010 I somewhat followed the MLB playoffs and World Series – but post 2010 I even lost interest in that and I don’t remember the last World Series I watched.

I’m huge baseball fan. But I have zero interest in this exhibition. But I know people in my baseball groups are loving it. Just little interest when the NCAA men’s and women’s BB tournament is gong on.

The regular season begins in less than 2 weeks. I can wait for the real thing.

I used to watch that but to be honest I don't care anymore. My team's fucking closer went down for the year celebrating in that shit. It's turned me off on it. At the end of the day nobody remembers what happened in it.

The Cuban catcher, Ivan Prieto Gonzalez, defected after his team lost, they found out when he didn't show up for the return trip to Cuba this afternoon,

The Cuban catcher received an offer to be a bouncer at Tootsies ! Pays more than playing in Cuba ))

I'm a baseball fan, but I had no real interest in the World Baseball Classic. They should hold it after the season or possibly even during the season. I am amused by Ohtani striking out Trout.

I had a chance to see the US team play an exhibition against the SF Giants a couple of weeks ago. Initially, I didn't care about the WBC but it was kind of exciting to see the group of talent playing on one team.

The one thing they did during WBC was play under old rules without the pitch clock and with the shift. I have to say I wasn't a huge fan of the rule changes because I'm a baseball traditionalist. However, after watching a dozen games with the new rules, I like that the games are faster, balls hit up the middle are hits again and more teams are using speed to attempt more base stealing. I've changed my mind about the rule changes and like them now.

I have about the same amount of interest in it as the All Star game. And the All Star game I find about as interesting as watching pro bowling.
