Actress Kirstie Alley, who starred in “Cheers,” “Veronica’s Closet,” and “Drop Dead Gorgeous,” has died. She was 71 years old.

Alley’s children released the news of her passing in a statement revealing that she lost her battle with cancer.

“We are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer, only recently discovered,” the statement said. “She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead.”

“As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother,” the statement continued. “We are grateful to the incredible team of doctors and nurses at the Moffitt Cancer Center for their care.”

“Our mother’s zest and passion for life, her children, grandchildren and her many animals, not to mention her eternal joy of creating, were unparalleled and leave us inspired to live life to the fullest just as she did,” the statement concluded. “We thank you for your love and prayers and ask that you respect our privacy at this difficult time.”

Man - seems so many people are passing-away these days – and many at much younger ages.

Not many TV shows get exponentially better with cast changes but “Cheers” is certainly one of them.

Kirstie Alley, Kelsey Grammer, and Woody Harrelson made the shower better

When you get older you get tosee all your childhood memories die. R.I.P. Kirstie, without you playing "straight" there is no comedy on cheers.

"Kirstie Alley’s Cause Of Death Revealed"

Actress Kirstie Alley died on Monday, December 5, after a short battle with cancer.

Her children, True and Lillie Parker, made the heartbreaking announcement via their mother’s social media accounts — and on Tuesday, a representative for the late actress confirmed to People Magazine that Alley, 71, had only recently been diagnosed with colon cancer.

According to the “Cheers” actress’ children, she had been receiving treatment at the time of her death from the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida.

A number of her Hollywood colleagues offered their prayers and condolences via social media following the news of her passing. Among them was her ex-husband and the father of her children, actor Parker Stevenson — to whom she was married from 1983-1997.

Sharing a photo of the two of them together during happier times, the “Hardy Boys” actor wrote, “Dear Kirstie, I am so grateful for our years together, and for the two incredibly beautiful children and now grandchildren that we have. You will be missed. With love, Parker.”

A regular at my closest strip club said one time she liked it because it was like "Cheers", a place where everyone knows your name. I always liked those little strip clubs with lots of local regular customers and a crew of strippers who stayed a long time. Everyone gets to know each other.

Sad news. RIP Kirstie. She was a great character on Cheers.

I know this isn’t a time for politics, but Tucker Carlson played a clip of her last night talking about her views and accepting those with opposing views. It was impressive to see her intelligence and acceptance of others, as Hollywood celebrities don’t often accept those with opposing perspectives.
