Car Towed ?

TUSCLer "Muddy" just wrote an article where he mentioned coming out of the club just as his car was about to be towed.

This happened out-of-town as Muddy is on a strip-club road-trip - having one's car towed while one is away from home and doesn't know anyone def sucks - tow-yards can often be far AF, and it will often cost you a couple hundred and a couple-hours to get your car back - def not a way to spend one's night of fun - like many, I do not like valet-parking for various reasons and not only b/c of the extra-costs; but when I'm in an unfamiliar area/city where I am not familiar w/ the surroundings/M.O., I will usually not take chances w.r.t. where I park.

Has anyone ever had their car towed while clubbing? If so how was the experience?

Not clubbing, but when me and bunch of buddies went down to Baltimore for a Red Sox/O's weekend series. Our car got towed on the last day of the game. It's funny that they only towed cars with out of town license plate that day. We had take a cab to the impound yard and paid like $350 to get our car back.

^ ouch - at least you had your buddies with you.

Down here in Miami, in South Beach (tourist part of Miami Beach), they have a racket and tow cars like shooting fish in a barrel; and often these are out-of-towners that didn't know any better - pretty-sad to see when I am hanging out in SoBe and see a tow-truck going down-the-street with someone's car and it's likely and out-of-towner whose vacation is gonna be partially soured b/c of it.

Yes and just to clarify it was from a recent review it was in Stone Park. They were so aggressive and quick about it obviously this is something they do every night so just watch out there. And yes that clearly would’ve fucked me up. The tow truck driver came around the corner as I was looking at my ticket. Fuck all that noise, huge boner killer btw. Other than that I haven’t got my car towed yet it seems like the whole thing is one major pain in the ass.

Yep, happened to me. Visited a favorite, downtown KC SC. SC had its own lot behind the club one street over. Big sign - Reserved for Temptations patrons.

That night a dance club right next to the lot had a 'grand opening'. The SC owner seeing an opportunity to make $$$ hired a private tow firm and had lot attendants charge dance club patrons $10 to park; SC patrons - still no charge.

After a great night at the SC I left only to find my car had been towed to the tow operator's private lot and I would have to pay $$$ to get it released. Worse, it was raining and I was soaked.

However, once the SC doorman confirmed that I was at the strip club the lot attendants' attitude changed dramatically. Very apologetic and solicitous. Tow driver drove me to the impound lot. No charge to release my car.

Turns out the lone lot attendant on duty when I arrived had left and failed to tell the new guys that my car belonged to a SC patron!

A [second] happy ending that night. But I was soaking wet [not in a good way] and exhausted when I got home. The 'glow' of the SC evening had dimmed considerably.

Never towed but got a $95 parking ticket. I was parked on the street at a meter that isn't used at night so the parking was free. However I had a dancer talk me into having a few too many drinks and I didn't want to risk a DUI so I called a cab (pre-uber) and planned to come back first thing in the morning to get my car before they started charging for the meters at 8am. My drunk ass forgot to ask the desk for a wakeup call and overslept and it was almost 10am before I woke up. Got a cab to take me back to the car and found a lovely little ticket under the wiper but luckily the car hadn't been towed.

Still much cheaper than risking a DUI.

Back in college (New Jersey) I used to drive a 1980 Mustang that was all beat up with like 150,000 miles on it and often broke down. I had to go to the NYC Library to work on a school project and when I came out my car was gone. I was thrilled because I assumed it was stolen. I called a buddy to come pick me up and he was like you dumb fuck nobody would steal that piece of shit. Called the NYPD and sure enough they towed it. Had to take a cab and pay I think a hundred or so to get it out of impound (30 plus years ago). I just got back over the GW Bridge and before I got home it broke down. Had to walk like a mile to a pay phone, call AAA, and walk back. They couldn't get it started and so the car got towed for a 2nd time that same day.

Yes, 24 years ago I was clubbing in NYC. The Vip Club on 20th and 5th Ave. , who thought I couldn’t park on 20th St on a Saturday night.? Took a cab to 12th Ave at 1am where my car was. They didnt take credit cards. Had to take another cab to an ATM. I think the tab was like $280 plus two $95 tickets. I really took it in the pail that night ! But I did get a HJ from a porn star , Christina Angel, working the club that night ))
Got back to Long Island around 430 am , ouch.

It was my friends car. We got out of the club and it was gone. We thought it was stolen. No one was helpful and security directed us to a sign. An adjacent lot with no markings wasn't the clubs.

Getting the car back was $300. Plus he had to bring the title . couldn't find it. The dmv wanted his registration to get a copy. Registration was in yhe car. Took a week to find the title at home. Its a hassle and towing companies are some of yhe worst people to deal with

Crazy occurrence many years ago: I had to valet at the club, and the valet apparently gave my keys to another patron. When he noticed that the keys didn’t work in his car, he pulled out his backup keys and drove away with mine. Upon my request to retrieve my car, the valet realized his mistake. Fortunately for me, he knew the guy that he gave my keys to, and was able to later retrieve my keys in about an hour.
