During all this chaos it sure was nice not having to deal with traffic.
That all changed yesterday. That was the first day where everything seemed like it used to be, even though several businesses are still closed in my area. That’s all gonna change soon as I think the plan is to have EVERYTHING open by the end of the month in my state. Bars and casinos included - although I’m not sure they even have all the parameters worked out yet.
I often wonder if this will all happen again (everything shutting down) this winter. What do you think?

last commentTraffic here has been erratic at best with some days resembling the rush hour traffic that we are used to and others light doesn’t seem to have any rhyme nor reason, no pattern that makes any sense to me.

Traffic was scary dead when our shelter in place started. It has been steadily increasing to the point there now are legit rush hours again. It's more like President's Day type traffic; holidays where schools and governments are closed. It probably won't get truly bad again until schools open in the fall

IME if there is no school, traffic is not as much of an issue, it's manageable. If school comes back forget it though.

People are finally realizing that they aren't going to die by walking outside. As people get more comfortable, traffic is going to increase. In the Tampa area, I have noticed a big difference in the past two weeks. Two weeks ago is when our Governor starting his reopening plan. Now, traffic is back to January levels.

I bet SJG is gonna miss riding his huffy bike down the middle of the streets of San Jose without a worry of a dot com worker running him over with their Tesla.

The best part of traffic is when you get to rear end another dude

Traffic was super light when the Stay At Home started but, as things have reopened it has steadily increased to what I would guess is about a 70-80% level right now. Thing that bugged me was that when it was light several idiots would take advantage and turn the highway into their own personal autobahn. Average speed in general increased to about 70-75 but I had peeps blowing by me musta been doing a hundred 🚀

Oh yeah there were a couple times I was going a solid 80 on the freeway and someone zipped past me. Apparently accidents were way down but fatal accidents were up

I expect a second wave, and it to be worse.

w.r.t traffic in Miami - seemed to be about 20% to 30% the first 2 or 3 weeks then it seemed to start increasing little by little as people became more accustomed to the current-normal - right now feels about 65%, more cars but traffic still flows at speed during rush-hour (at least on the freeways I use) which is not normally the case, and still a decent amount of space in b/w cars - I assume the lack of school helps reduce traffic, as well as many white-collar workers that even though things are opening up, many are still working from home.
