I didn't watch the STOTU but it's often kinda an imformercial so I don't put too-much stock in it (as we.all know actions speak louder than words)

Papi, you should have. Trump's SOTUs are not the usual fluffy platitudes and empty promises that we've come to expect over the years. He very concretely talks about what he promised during his campaign, what has been achieved so far (which was a lot btw) and what he plans to do moving forward. Like him or not, the guy is goal oriented and does his best to do everything that he says he will.

I liked Trump's SOTU....I am not a big fan of his, but he is doing fairly well. And as far as the democrats....If they get bernie or pete they're better off than with hillary!

I don’t think this sentence was the central point of your post but it echoes all the pearl clutching snowflakes on Fox News who were so offended by Pelosi. Do you think for a minute this was a meltdown? News flash: it was planned and completely intentional. Pelosi is extremely deliberate and intelligent. When has she ever lost her cool? We’re supposed to believe she lost it and forgot she was on camera? Ludicrous. Watch the tape. She waits until the end and completely straight faced holds the speech up to the camera and tears it up. Then finds more pages and tears those up too. Didn’t like it? The message wasn’t meant for you.

Pelosi is a has been. The left forced her into the stupidity of impeachment and the Democratic party will once again lose the white house to the biggest asshole on Earth.

^ I agree that her behavior was calculated, but IMHO she miscalculated. Like him or not, he gave a relatively Presidential speech that was largely optimistic and likely well received. Her behavior looked petulantly angry by comparison. It wasn't just hard right Republicans watching that speech, but also moderates and independents too.

I'm a libertarian independent....Pelosi annoyed me with her paper shuffling and fidgeting...lol only slightly though. I am equally annoyed by the republicans and the democrats. Each side blames the other and doesn't look at their own behaviors. Each side's attitude is their way is 100% correct and the other side 100% wrong...They are all completely worthless when they have this attitude. When you can look at yourself first, and admit you have defects and can improve...and also can point out the good and the bad in the other side...what you can agree with and what you do not...Then you are actually doing your job and behaving like an adult and not a 2 year old.

Max, I agree with a lot of that. But I'll also say that I do blame the Dems more.

During his SOTU 12 months ago, Trump extended the olive branch to the newly elected Congress. He outlined areas in which he felt they might find some bipartisan ground, including infrastructure spending, healthcare reform and immigration (he was willing to make concessions for dreamers and others in exchange for more security funding). As has been made obvious by Trump's tariffs and other trade negotiations, he is not a hard right ideologue.

What he has received in return is a solid year of investigations, subpoenas, unceasing melodramatic hyperbole in print and tv media, and, finally, a ridiculous impeachment proceeding. Sprinkled in with that of course has been a few faux legislative actions with bills that never had a chance of bipartisan support, passed solely for political statement purposes. Net-net for a whole year now this newly elected Congress has done absolutely nothing but gnash and claw. The only reason they even passed the new trade agreement negotiated by Trump is because the labor unions supported it - Nancy knows where her campaign $$$ bread is buttered.

So what do you do with this? The Dems had a chance to show some leadership over the past year, but instead they opted to pander to the most rabid parts of their constituency.

But I think his chances of getting re-elected have been reduced substantially. And if he should get re-elected, I believe we will immediately go to Impeachment 2.0. This Trump does not seem to know how to tie his shoes without committing impeachable offenses.

I don't think this country could hold together through another Trump Term.

I said when he was first elected that it would likely result in destruction of our territorial integrity. This might start with the 4 states on the Mexican border.

Everyday we seem to be moving closer to civil war.
