Fuck Starbucks, go to Vietnamese Bikini Coffee Shops, free wifi, bikini waitresses, sometimes see some titties, good coffee, and a bunch of PL watching porn on their tablets, laptops, and phones.

We don't have Vietnameses in Miami - we barely have Americans here.

I like to hang out at Starbucks and usually buy food and/or a coffee - guess I lost my incentive to hang out at Starbucks and buy their overpriced coffee.

Can you get around this with a VPN?

I know I liked going to Dunkin Donuts a few times when I was nearby one and staying in a house without WiFi.

Or are any of these places convenient enough from where ever you’re at?

Go to the counter and ask them if they would like to have a conversation about race and censorship.....the same way they did to their customers a couple of years ago.....

VPN or Onion browser will get you around it.

A couple of years ago I used TOR for a bit but it had a large latency and I couldn't load videos bc it was very slow, text would load but slowly.

Not the end of the world, I just liked hanging and surfing at Starbucks and eating a panini and having a latte while there - I may look into the VPN thing.

Is there a good VPN to recommend?

I use TunnelBear and like it -- it's free to 500MB per month, or small monthly fee. I can recomend it personally, it's always worked well for me. ExpressVPN is probably the most highly recommended VPN if you're interested in looking at that. The thing to be careful about with VPN software is every once in a while a bunch get busted for keeping data they claim not to keep, etc., so do some research if you're not going with one of those.

I would never connect to a public wifi without a VPN -- too easy for someone to steal your credentials, etc. You should be using a VPN regardless when attached to Starbucks wifi

I should note that TunnelBear is one of the few free VPNs I'd recommend -- it's got a strict no-logging policy and no data leaks detected even by independent auditors, whose results TB publishes. Fantastic choice if you use less than 500MB/month, because it's free (if not the fastest VPN in the world) at that level. Since I only use a VPN on public wifi, and am only going to low bandwidth sites like tuscl, I stay at the free level. Above 500MB or for faster speeds, you have to pay, which is the case with most no-logging no-leaks VPNs (which is expected, VPN infrastructure is expensive, so a purely free VPN has to make money somehow).

Most cell phone plans include free Wifi hotspot service now. It's nice turning on the Wifi and using your laptop to connect to your cell's Wifi hotspot.
