Stanley Cup Predictions

Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals is Monday night (Happy Memorial Day everybody). The Eastern Conference Champion Washington Capitals will face the Western Conference Champion Vegas Golden Knights. Vegas has the home ice advantage in this best-of-7 series. Both teams are looking to win the first Stanley Cup in the history of their franchise. I have no particular rooting interest, I just want this series to be good.

My prediction: Caps in 7

Wow I didn’t realize the Caps have never won a cup.

NBA is getting rather interesting as well. The 2 favorites are both down 3 games to 2. I still want to see a Cavs/GS finals because I think this is the last time it happens.

I kind of lost interest after my Predators lost. But on to the subject, Has the city of Las Vegas ever had any sports team to win anything ? They have to be the surprise story of the sports year.

Warrior, UNLV has a hot basketball team back in the 90s. Their biggest notable from their football team is Suge Knight played on it.

I meant professional sports. But in remembering Jerry Tarkanian's teams, maybe those were pro !!!

I'm really torn on this one. On one hand, you've got the Caps, who finally upended my Penguins (dammit!) by playing great team defense and a very clean series. I really have no problem cheering for them to go all the way.

On the other hand, you have Las Vegas, led by Marc-Andre Fleury, late of the Penguins after 12 seasons, who is just playing insanely well in the Vegas net. The whole teams is extraordinarily well-coached and, like the Caps, is playing great team hockey on all lines. Both squads are playing clean but hard-nosed hockey. I'm going to enjoy this series!

I think Vegas is a team of destiny.

Although Suge Knight is more famous for non-football reasons, Randall Cunningham (and Kenny Mayne) also played football at UNLV. Vegas has never had a pro team in any of the major leagues before this year.

I'm rooting for Vegas, so that means the Caps will win in 6.

A few years back we went to a boxing event at the arena in Orlando, and a hockey game broke out.
