RIP Sir Roger Moore (1927-2017)

Any place that interests me.
Although Sean Connery is my favorite James Bond actor, Roger Moore played in my all time favorite movie opener ("Octopussy".) I will never forget the cool casual way he said "fill er' up." I enjoyed RM's Bond movies just as much as Sean Connery's. RIP, Sir.

I liked Moore but the Bond series became very silly under his run. Connery and Brosnon did the best of making it at least SEEM like a serious job.

I liked Craig because of the scripts...very much like John LeCarre's spies as oppoed to a cartoon spoof of Bond which was Moore turned in to. My fave was Live And Let Die for Moore; his first. Good plot, good evil bad guys and was very much a Connery type script.

I always thought some of his best work was as Simon Templar in "The Saint". I also thought that he was great in "ffolkes" with Anthony Perkins as the villain. He will be missed.

My favorite Bond scene was the boat chase through the Louisiana bayous in Live and Let Die.

Agree with that ATAC and as a matter of fact, while it may no longer be true, a long time ago Iw as reading the guiness book of records and the record for longest "leap" of a powerboat over dry land is from that scene in the movie. They actually did it without special effects.

Nice guy, did a lot for UNICEF. Undoubtedly the worst Bond actor of them all.

Sean Connery was b/f my time; Roger Moore was my "first Bond" - I liked him and liked his movies; liked his easy-going bit facetious style of humor - never really followed the Bond movies post Roger Moore since by that time I was not into movies as much.

He also seemed like a good-guy off-screen that didn't take himself too-seriously and he was fortunate to have a long life - RIP.

Moore was a pacifist and said so when he was chosen as Bond! While his portrayal of Bond is "campy" by today's standards of of bloody realism but was a sign of the times. Times were hard and they wanted to appeal the broadest audience possible. The stunts, gadgets and exotic locale plus seduction were his forte. Timothy Dalton was more like Daniel Craig of today but he was to dark for mainstream audiences even though he played the character like Bond in Fleming's books. Pierce Brosnan was less dark and brutal but was more so than Moore. He laid the ground work for Daniel Craig's calm cold relentless pursuit of the mission no matter what. He will pay the cost later after the mission is completed.
Never the less I still watch Roger Moore's Bond films. He was/is Bond.
My favorite Moore Bond film is 'For Your Eyes Only"! The "Greek" bad-ass girl played by Carole Bouquet (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000962/) in that one is Hot.
I also liked him in the old series "The Saint"

    My Bonds rated, in order:

1/2. Sean Connery & Daniel Craig. I can't choose between these two guys.

    3. Timothy Dalton, played another hard-edged Bond

    4. Pierce Brosnan, great actor hampered by scripts that went just past believable.

    5. Roger Moore. Could have been right up with Connery and Craig if he had been given better scripts.

    6. David Niven/Woody Allen as father/son Bonds in the totally lost and unlamented first try at Casino Royale. How many of you guys remembered that stinker? Their portrayal is not last only because of:

7++++. George Lazenby. A piece of wood could have out acted that guy. Darn near killed the franchise off with On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

I'm surprised at the love for Dalton; he was my least favorite. He wasn't "Bond"....he was just some spy. Dalton had no class while "Bond" always dressed well and had breeding, at least up to that point. I do agree he was very close to Craig except Craig pulled it off; Dalton didn't.

I liked On Her Majesty's SS a lot, Lazenby wasn't THAT bad. It was a terrific movie that transcended his rather forgettable performance.
