fucking bullshit. Leonard leaves the game and the Spurs are a completely different team. not boxing out, silly turnovers, Aldridge not asserting himself... this just changed the complexion of the entire series. fuck this shit.
if you couldn't tell, I really wanted GSW to lose...and they still almost lost.
^^^You know you are an idiot posting drivel on other people's posts. You are fucking insane talk about tolerating F2F encounters if you and I ever came F2F you'd piss your fucking pants.
For GS supposedly being a super-team not impressed they almost lost the first-game of the series AT HOME w/ 2-starters out for SA (Parker; Leonard) - I'm not too impressed w/ GS and although I like them I think they are overrated
Not sure how they are overrated. They've broken too many NBA records to count and have had the best regular season record for three straight seasons now. They just swept two teams while averaging a 16.5 point margin of victory while one of their league MVPs was injured and out for the first couple games. Oh and their head coach was and still is out due to injury.
^nina I like you but I have to disagree. they are overrated but that's not to say they aren't the best team far and away talent wise. but considering they have more talent than what's fair, even without Steve Kerr they should have won by more than 2. especially with the Spurs missing their best player for the last quarter and half. that's after taking into consideration they spotted San Antonio 20 points before Leonard left.
I recall back in March, I believe, they played the Spurs. KD was out due to injury , Kawhi was playing. The warriors were down by 20 points in that game and overcame that deficit, without KD.
When you give up a 25 point lead, you can't really blame it on one player leaving the court. Especially since in Gregg Popovich's long coaching career with the Spurs, he has won 316 games while leading by 25 points. Before tonight, he had lost zero.
Nina you just proved my point. they have enough talent without durant so with durant in a playoff game no less, they should have out scored San Antonio without their best player by 40 points in a quarter and a half. like I said they should have won by more than 2.
popovich is just the coach(arguably top 3 all time if not the best coach all time). but there's only so much he can do even with a 25 point lead when your team is clearly undermanned.
I think that Golden State is overloaded with talent, and the addition of Durant, is at some point going to bite them in the ass. Just seems to me coming back from 25 points behind should never have been necessary, with all of those sharp shooters and long range snipers how the hell did they fall that far behind anyway.I didn't think this series would last 5 games, I still don't think it should, but who knows. Just too many superstars and not enough minutes of playing time to go around. They just weren't as sharp as they should have been.
Nina you're forgetting that the one player leaving the court is a top three player in the league, and the Spurs were up by 23 when he got injured! Hell he's the best player in this series (he's better than Durant and Curry IMO). So yes you can blame it on one player leaving the court, the Spurs were so discombobulated after that.
Fucking Zaza Pachulia changed the whole series. Just sad.
To the Spurs fans here, you lost and that's the whole point. The Warriors won the game whether you would like to blame it on Kawhi's injury or not. He was already playing on a bum ankle anyway. I don't think he will be back for the rest of the series, so it looks like the Warriors have a pretty clear path to the finals vs Cavs. But I do not have a crystal ball, so let's see what happens. I do, however, think it's safe to say the Warriors would have won the series regardless (IMO).
Chessmaster, I will admit that I completely agree with you on coach Pop. I will not necessarily say that he is THE best of all time, that is very arguable, but he certainly is one of the greatest and I would put him in the same caliber as Phil Jackson and Pat Riley. He is definitely one of the GOATs and, speaking objectively, I have a lot of respect for him as a coach and a person.
"I do, however, think it's safe to say the Warriors would have won the series regardless (IMO)."
Yeah they probably would have won but the spurs wouldve competed with Leonard which is all I wanted to see before the finals, is somebody to at least make gsw and Cleveland sweat before the finals.
I might be over emotional right now, but you guys were getting your ass kicked, and instead of beating us the fair away you have to cheat and have one of your goons take out our best player. So disgusting!!! I'm not gonna get a good sleep tonight. Karma will come back around.....
LFM, the Warriors would've won the series either way. They were rusty the first game because they got almost a week of off after sweeping their series (even Desmond commented pregame that he doesn't like having all the extra rest time because he wants them to still be in full swing) while the Spurs struggled with Houston. And Kawhi disagrees with you about it being intentional.
Draymond* not Desmond. But I'm sure there is a Desmond out there somewhere.
Also, LFM, did you forget LaMarcus Aldridge exists? He had 28 points, yes, but after Leonard sadly was injured, Aldridge did NOT step up. He actually fumbled.
^^^ Nina is correct, the Warriors were rusty from sweeping their previous opponents and having the time off. It took them a half game to get back into a rhythm. This is generally true of most people/teams when they have time off. It takes a little bit of time to get back into the swing of things. San Antonio was riding a pretty good wave that carried into the first half of yesterday's game, that was until the talent of Golden State finally turned it around.
I'm not good at predictions, but my guess is that the Warriors will have another long break after finishing off the Spurs before the NBA championship series against Cleveland. They will probably be more prepared against Cleveland as they have something to avenge for with last year's loss.
Most professional sports are pretty evenly matched, and the variable is mostly who has more motivation. GSW have something to prove and they have a little more all around talent to take them past Spurs.
Yes Kawhi said he didn't think it was dirty, but he also said he hasn't seen the play yet. If you go on Twitter, the consensus is that the play was dirty.
LaMarcus Aldridge??????? If he was on the Warriors he'd be the fifth or sixth best player. He came up smaller in the clutch than a newborn baby.
OMG LFM. Apparently to you, the Warriors are so stacked with talent and that's why Aldridge would be their fifth or sixth best player. He is one of the Spurs' best players, so I guess that simply speaks volumes on how great of a team you must think the Warriors are. Aldridge is the "successor to Tim Duncan" right? You are actually helping me to prove my point.
Yes OBVIOUSLY the Warriors have much more talent than the Spurs, everyone in the world knows that. However the best player in the series is Kawhi Leonard and the Warriors don't have the Spurs championship DNA. Remember the one title they won was when Kyrie and Love were hurt for the Cavs, so essentially it's like them beating the Spurs without Kawhi playing. Then last year they blew a 3-1 lead to the Cavs when they had more talent than the Cavs. So more talent doesn't necessarily mean you win the series, and the Warriors still have a whole lot of proving to do. It's a shame that's now it's gonna be a cakewalk against the Spurs.
Well at least you have basically admitted that your team was and still is inferior, and that they probably would have lost the series with or without Kawhi.
If Kawhi was 100% healthy the Spurs would have beaten the Warriors in six or seven games. The Warriors have the most talented team, but they don't have the most talented player (Kawhi Leonard). I brought up them blowing a 3-1 lead last year they had more talent than Cleveland, but they didn't have the most talented player (LeBron James). A transcendent player can overcome a team being more talented than his.
LOL. The warriors were clearly the favored team to win. With Kawhi at 100%, the series may have gone to six or seven games but the Warriors would still most likely have won. If you are trying to deny that, then you are simply being a bias fan. That's okay, I was the same way about the Pistons when I was a teenager.
I also think it is hilarious that you are pretty much acting like it is axiomatic that Kawhi is the best player in the series. Kevin Durant is one of the League's best scorers of all time and is a former league MVP, has won plenty of scoring titles and has been on more all NBA first teams than Kawhi even if you account for the fact that KD has been in the league for longer. So please stop acting like Kawhi is the best player in the series when you know that is absolutely debatable, and not necessarily true.
I mean, to be fair, KD has widely been considered the second best player of this generation of basketball. But you seem to firmly believe that Kawhi is so much better to the point of it being axiomatic to you which I personally find funny, untrue, and bias on your part. But OK.
First of all Durant has probably been in the league four or five more years than Kawhi and I'm not doing a lifetime acheivement award, I'm talking about right now. But if we want to do lifetime achievement, I believe Kawhi is a Finals MVP and a champion, can the same be said about Durant????
Speaking of 1st team all NBA, if memory serves me correctly I believe Kawhi got 1st team last year and Durant was 2nd team last year. This year Kawhi is gonna get 1st team and Durant will be 2nd team (I'd be happy to put some money on it if you think there will be a different result). If you watch Inside The NBA on TNT all four analysts on there (Barkley, Kenny, Shaq, and Ernie) say Kawhi is the second best player in the league. The consensus around the league is that Kawhi is the second the best player in the league.
Your boy Durant is good that he was teamed up with another top 5 player (Westbrook) and he couldn't get it done, so he decided to join a 73 win team from the year before LMAO.
Kawhi is the best player in the series and it's not DEBATABLE. I think you see that now.
And yes obviously the Warriors were favored in the series. I originally thought Warriors would win in six, but after seeing game 1 when Kawhi was in there, it became clear to me that the Spurs were gonna give the Warriors lots of problems.
And what's with these words no one has heard of? Axiomatic? I'm gonna have to look that word up.
Exactly and it is quite debatable because KD is STILL considered to be the second best player of his generation, behind only LeBron James. You have a severe bias that has been clear on this thread, and that is okay.
"I believe Kawhi is a Finals MVP and a champion, can the same be said about Durant????"
I believe Durant has a chance at becoming a champion and a Finals MVP this year, can the same be said about Kawhi????

And I would not be watching as I am always working on my plan to build an organization which will span much of the world and stop the Dougster's.
But you enjoy the basketball game 25.

I'm guessing little fishsticks uses Wikipedia as his source for his sophomore research papers.

Actually, by definition it is debatable since it is being debated.
