Dive to me implies a certain level of crappiness in the state of the building, shitty bartender, probably smells of stale beer, no carpeting. Follie's has dive pricing but I wouldn't call it a dive.

I consider IR as white version by day, papi version by night.

I love how when I travel around the Midwest there's a lot of faux dive bars. They are new establishments that look like they are something out of the 1970s but serve craft beer and some even have gourmet-type food. At least 50% of the male employees have a handlebar mustache, 50% of the female staff is wearing flannel and 100% of the staff are hipsters or as I like to call some of them "faux hipsters."

Most of the places are good and serve good food, some just try a little too hard to have that "dive" atmosphere.
