just read that sometime this morning phenom pitcher passed away from a boating accident. he would have most likely have been one of the best to pitch during the next 10 years.

last commentA sad day in baseball for sure. He was one if the good guys in the game as well. Well liked around the league.
Also a sad day as Arnold Palmer passes away.

Holy crap - I live in Miami but been out of town and did not know - as a fellow Miamian & fellow Cuban, this def hits close to home - Jose defected from Cuba at 15 and was due for a huge contract - boating is huge in Miami and unfortunately fatal boating accidents are not rare

Papi,
Going against my non-SC policy, this needed to be aired. Not only did he defect on his third try and after jail time he made it, as I understand. It was truly sad for all of us down in South Florida.
You are correct about boating, but as the facts are coming out, it seems even more tragic. I've personally boated where this occurred and I can't imagine trans-versing the water where this happened at a high rate of speed.
All I can think of is to include all involved in prayers and say Rest In Peace, Jose.

RIP, one must always pay attention while boating. I've boated in the dark.

As the details come out, it's so tragic. Boating is fun, at night vision is limited. Rock jetties barely are visible.

We were trying to come in one night on our sail boat. Gave up looking and anchored for the night. In the AM, we were about 25' from the rocks.
