State authorities seize gentlemen's club in College Station

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Texas Comptroller's Office shut down the Silk Stocking Thursday afternoon for failing to pay taxes and fees.

Authorities changed the locks to the "gentlemen's club" with a note that read, "The Comptroller of Public Accounts has seized this property for nonpayment of taxes, penalty or interest due to the State of Texas. It is against the law to enter, dismantle, take possession of or remove anything from this property."

A spokesman with the comptroller's office said the owners of the club owe more than $192,000 in taxes and fees. A majority of that money is for failing to pay a sexually-oriented business fee, according to the comptroller's office.

The state will turn the property back over to the owners once they "sell the account," meaning when they pay the taxes and fees.
