I still play Missle Command. Burn Out, the driving game is about the most advanced I got.

I tried playing GTA San Andreas, but I couldn't even steal a bike without wrecking, so I just started punching everyone, even women. Then some mexicans yelled at me to come over, but when I did they shot me dead...lol

I don't know how familiar you are with the "lore" of the Fallout series, but it fits the setting.

Don't get me wrong - I love the commercial. And I saw a new ad yesterday calling it "the best game of all time". That's pretty high praise.

No, I'm familiar with the series. I just wonder how many of the young people playing the game ever heard the song before.

But I am interested. The commercial shows an old car and houses from the 50's or 60's which suggests nuclear war during the Cold War period. But then what is the futuristic suit the character puts on at the end?

Does the game take place in the 50's or in the future "Terminator" era?

Essentially, it's an alternate timeline where history diverged after WW II. The Cold War never ended, and eventually ratcheted up to full out war in 2077.

For whatever reason, the transistor was never invented, but atomic power was developed to the point where consumer devices, such as cars, were feasible. Thus all the clunky "electronics" and such.

Also, apparently the focus on the hostilities and atomic research resulted in less "social progress" so all the arts and such look and sound like the 50s and 60s.
