I guess he just never thought about all the nuclear radiation that would generate. Kind of hard to make a planet liveable when there are nuclear bombs going off all the time.
Actually instead of using nuclear bombs, you just need sustained fusion reactions that don't generate much radiation. Pretty simple stuff. I should start up a company with plans to do so and get funding from all you guys making over 250K a year or more. :)

That still doesn't solve the problem of a breathable atmosphere. Mars has next to no magnetic field, a field that deflects the solar winds that strip away the atmosphere. Nuts, if anything, using nukes like that could possibly compound the problem.
