An Allentown strip club was robbed at gunpoint Saturday, according to emergency radio reports.

An alert was issued about 7 p.m. for police in the area to be on the lookout for a Hispanic male in a dark T-shirt who showed a handgun at Platinum Plus. It was not immediately clear what time the robbery occurred.

The alert indicated the man left the club at 1253 Airport Road in a black Mercury Mountaineer or Ford Explorer with three other Hispanic males.

Allentown police could not immediately provide more information on the robbery.

A woman who answered the phone at the club said everyone there was OK but declined further comment.

It seems like a lot of the big chain clubs are having nothing but trouble lately.

Just one more reason to stick to the small dives that I prefer.

These guys know the clubs take in a lot of money. They need better security to protect their ass-ets.

Update:

A man accused of robbing an Allentown strip club at gunpoint got about $1,600 -- then threw the bag of money out a car window when police began chasing the vehicle, according to court records.

City police said Hector Medina-Pena and three others went to Platinum Plus gentlemen's club on Airport Road on Saturday.

After spending about an hour at the business, one of the men went to the register, reached for his waistband and said, "Give me all the money or I'll kill you," court records say.

The man, later identified as Medina-Pena, had a black item in his waistband that the woman at the register thought was a handgun, police said.

The woman gave Medina-Pena $1,594, and he and the other men left the business in a black Ford Explorer, records say.

Allentown police Officer James Nusky spotted the vehicle at Third and Union streets and called for back-up. There was a brief chase, records say, during which a black bag with $1,565 inside was thrown out the vehicle window and later recovered by officers.

The SUV eventually stopped, and witnesses identified all four men, police said. Surveillance video showed Medina-Pena robbing the business, police said; the other men were unaware of the robbery and were released.

Video also showed Medina-Pena destroying three large mirrors in the club's bathroom, causing about $2,000 in damage, records say.

All four men were arrested at Fifth and Auburn streets, Morris said.

Medina-Pena, 32, of the 600 block of Lehigh Street in Allentown, has been charged with robbery, theft, receiving stolen property, criminal mischief and simple assault. He is being held in lieu of $300,000 bail.
