I agree with rickdugan. Because there are always guys willing to pay it. I see it all the time at the Platinum Plus clubs. The club charges $300 for an hour in the Champagne Room. The dances can charge what ever they can get and from what I have read and heard that is $300-500 for an hour. Throw in tips and it can easily come up to a grand.
Lots of variables being ignored here.
For example you don't complain about the cost of beef without considering the grade. Illogical to complain that some people overpay for beef just cause filet costs $15 per pound. If that's too steep, you can buy ground chuck. Costs vary widely by grade of beef and strippers, and the best quality in both justifiably command a premium price.
Another factor is time. Are you paying for one hour of sex in a club, one hour in a hotel, or a 6 hour GFE that ends with all the sex you want for as long as you want. These things logically have different prices.
Another factor is what store you are shopping in. If you shop at Costco, costs will be less than if you shop at a grocery store. Same is true for guys that shop at Follies vs those who only have more expensive options. It's not fair to criticize guys as PLs just because there is no Costco where they live.
My experience in life is that you almost always get what you pay for. If you pay low prices you usually get lower quality. That's fine for lots of things, and not for other things. Some products I buy generic, others I buy brand name. Strippers are in my brand name category.
Not necessarily, John. Cost doesn't always reflect quality. Some of my best experiences include a beautiful Asian masseuse ($150, including house fee), a massage attendant at a dive Canadian MP (about $200, factoring in currency rates), a full body rub in the Twin Cities ($150), and an escort in the Twin Cities ($300, and one of the most beautiful women I've ever met). But on my last trip to the Cities, a couple of Asian dancers wanted a grand -- each -- as did a dancer at another club, and none of them held a candle to those aforementioned ladies for beauty or passion. (And, no, I didn't go through with any of those three. Just too much cash for too little.)
JamesSD makes a solid point. So the blame should go to the patrons who support these 1k ideals. especially when paying $500 for an hour of VIP and GENERALLY it only includes touchy dancing and MAYBE some kissing. Members of TUSCL are the exception, not the rule.
@JohnSmith69 I wouldn't use beef as an example since food is essential for living. Going to the STRIP CLUB for sex is not and is a luxury. You don't buy grade D beef because:

Out of curiosity, I've started asking non extras girls whats the most money you have ever been offered for sex that you turned down. So far the answers range from $3K to $15K with my sense of the average being around $5K. I agree that those numbers are insane and can only be the product of extreme ignorance, extraordinary desperation, or virtually unlimited wealth. However, while 500 to $1K is obviously high, it is not so high that it necessarily reflects ignorance, desperation, or obscene wealth. Instead, factors like the ones I listed can sometimes make 500 to $1K a rationale price even if it's more than most PLs would pay.
Use front row vs back row covert tickets instead of beef if you want. The point is still a valid one. The very best of something that is popular commands a high price premium because there is a high demand and limited supply.

My answer to the question is that they think they are good enough to charge such figures, either through their looks alone and/or the sexual services they can deliver and their belief in making us guys (or girls) sexually satisfied. There are plenty of guys that are willing to pay such sums, and more. $500 is towards the top end of my comfort zone but I have met girls I would have paid $1,000 for had they been agreeable to OTC.

With that being said, you can usually attain most who are willing to entertain the idea for what amounts to their average daily take. In most parts of the U.S., that equates to $500 or less. Possible reasons:
1) they are sales people – the will try to get the highest price they can - that’s why many of them start sky high and often negotiate down – and there are those custies than think w/e the dancer quotes is what it is and thus choose to pay it b/c they don’t know any better (and like PT Barnum said “there’s a sucker born every minute”)
2) many dancers are not be comfortable with the FS thing and will only do it if it’s really wroth it to them; e.g. $500+

Makes sense that safety and relationship status are the two biggest blocks. Hell, a lot of my civilian friends have admitted they'd sell their bodies for enough money. No one turns down $1m on principle, and few can pass 100k. Things get more awkward when you get closer to a realistic number.

Nobody is obligated to buy expensive, nobody's obligated to sell cheap. There are escorts who go for $5,000 an evening and they work for governors of NY and pro sports stars.
