[view link] Like I said in the other thread, I can't believe they took the time and energy to write this law, when the issue at hand is guns and talk of banning high capacity magazines and assault rifles, and this same education and licensing placed on arms would do a world more of good to society than a topless dancer.

There was a thread about this subject started, yesterday i believe. It is is a bit TOO early to be STARTING another thread about it.

I presume the license would include the dancer's real name and address. I see real danger in this bit of governmental insanity.

The state needs the income. From [view link]: Legislators in Texas, the biggest energy producer among U.S. states, will begin deliberating its next two-year budget with a surplus forecast today to match an $8.8 billion record set in 2007.

"How stupid are lawmakers?". IMO they are either complete fucking idiots or slicker than owl shit. And they're all getting rich at our expense.

Lapdances are not taxable. Tipping at the rail isn't taxable. The government dosen't give a shit about your safety, or decency--they just care about getting their cut. Why require strippers to get licenses? Because they have to pay for them. The government gets its cut. Because nothing is worse to the american public than seeing a naked titty.

What michael_oxbig said perfectly. And the big issue isn't guns - it's what happens when OPM finally run out for the feds, the staties, and the local government.

This legislation might be a knee jerk reaction to the request of a big campaign donor. All that aside, how hard can it be to issue an "entertainer's" license? It's done at the local level in many places; and maybe it should remain at the local level so they can get a piece of the pie closer to home.

There are so many jobs these days one basically has to ask permission from the government to work. There is so much red tape and bullshit sometimes I think the Mexicans got it right to work under cover.

they could put their license number in their tramp-stamp. there's already a whole bunch of useless info tattooed on their bodies now, why not their permit number?

Maybe persons like you deogol and MANY other members here SHOULD be required to wear a picture of an Asshole so that the dancers know the type of customer they are dealing with.

You people who have been all worried about the country turning socialist or communist should stop. Fascists snuck in the back door.

Lapdances and tips are taxable as income for the dancers. Now obviously if a stripper makes $500 in lap dances and tips in a night all in cash they can easily commit tax evasion by claiming to have only made $150 and there probably isn't a lot of evidence to the contrary to prosecute them on, but it's still taxable income.

Maybe the IRS should thoroughly investigate the Strip Club industry. It might put a small dent in the deficit. ;))
